Sun Devils play D-backs in first MLB Spring Training game of 2018
The Arizona State Sun Devils will play the Arizona Diamondbacks in the first Spring Training game of the year today at 3:10 p.m. ET.
In all games in Spring Training last year the D-backs had a record of 18-15-2. They won 15 of those games vs. Major League clubs. That included when Arizona split two games with the Cleveland Indians at Chase Field in Phoenix at the end of Spring Training. The Diamondbacks finished with a record of 5-3 in split squad games.
Arizona in 2017 had a 93-69 record during the regular season. The D-backs qualified for the playoffs and defeated the Colorado Rockies 11-8 in last year’s National League Wild Card Game. The Diamondbacks then got swept in three games to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Division Series.
In 2017, the Sun Devils had a 23-32 record in college baseball. This season Arizona State has a record of 2-2.
