Bridgeport Girls' defeat Cozad in High School Varsity Basketball on Monday, February 16th, 2026; Bridgeport to play Gothenburg today on Tuesday, February 17th

The #3 ranked Bridgeport Bulldogs High School Girls' Varsity basketball team defeated the #6 ranked Cozad Haymakers 66-40 in the C1-10 Subdistrict Tournament on the Steve Morgan Court in the Prairie View Gymnasium in Ogallala, Nebraska, on Monday, February 16th, 2026.

Braelyn Malcom scored 10 points for Cozad. She made four two-pointers and two free throws.

Ella Schluterbusch scored 31 points for Bridgeport. She made five three-pointers and two free throws.

Bridgeport led 14-7 after one quarter.

The Bulldogs led 24-9 with 4:23 to go until halftime.

Cozad trailed 31-9 with 2:18 left in the second quarter.

Ella Schulterbusch made a two for Bridgeport.

Then, Makenna Broz made a three for Cozad. Brittlin Bussinger made two free throws for the Haymakers.

Finally, Makenna Broz made only the second of two free throws for Cozad and Bridgeport led Cozad after two quarters 33-15.

Bridgeport led 41-19 with 5:01 left to go in the third quarter.

After three quarters, Cozad trailed 52-28.

Bridgeport led 59-28 with 6:14 left in the fourth quarter.

Bridgeport won by a final score of 66-40.

For Cozad, Emersyn Propp and Makenna Broz each scored seven points.

Propp made one free throw.

Broz made two threes and one free throw.

Emalyn Geiger made two threes and totaled six points.

Aubrey Hammerlun scored four points.

Brittlin Bussinger made three free throws and scored three points.

Mallory Munster scored two points.

Briley Fisher scored one point.

For Bridgeport, Olivia Brown scored 17 points. She made one three-pointer and made two free throws.

Elizabeth Velazquez scored 16 points. She made one three-pointer and seven free throws!

Riley Cline made the last two-pointer for Bridgeport of the game and totaled two points.

Cozad now has a won-lost record of 3-19.

Bridgeport is now 22-3 on the season.

Bridgeport is slated to play Gothenburg at (or maybe a little before) 6:00 p.m. Mountain Time on February 17th in Ogallala again at Prairie View.
