Chase County Boys' defeat Chadron in High School Varsity Basketball on Monday, February 23rd, 2026; To play #2 Bridgeport on Tuesday, February 24th, 2026, in Subdistrict Semifinals

The #3 seeded Chase County Longhorns High School Boys' Varsity Basketball team defeated the #6 seeded Chadron Cardinals in the Class C1-10 Subdistrict Tournament Quarterfinals by a final score of 59-45 on Monday, February 23rd, 2026, on the Steve Morgan Court in the Prairie View Gymnasium in Ogallala, Nebraska.

Derek Bissonette scored 18 points for Chadron. He made four three-pointers and two free throws!

Lukas Fries scored 18 points for Chase County. He made three three-pointers and one free throw.

Chadron led 12 to 7 after one quarter.

Both teams were tied for much of the second quarter.

The Cardinals still led after two quarters 24-18.

Chase County put together a really great third quarter on offense and scored 28 points.

The Longhorns had everyone near the basket on defense and it shut down Chadron's ability to score in the third quarter.

Chase County led 46-34 after three quarters.

The Longhorns led 50-36 with 5:29 to go in the fourth quarter and Chase County won by a final score of 59 to 45.

Chadron fell to 10-15 on the season.

For Chadron, Brayden Linegar scored ten points. He made five two-pointers.

Kole Carnahan scored seven points. He made three two-pointers and one free throw.

Eliu Paopao and Tyson Pourier each scored four points. They each made two two-point baskets.

Jack O'Brien scored two points on a two-pointer.

For Chase County, James Bomba scored 13 points. He made two threes and three free throws.

Zak Anderson scored 11 points. He made one three-pointer and two free throws.

Noah Rau also scored 11 points. He made five two-pointers and one free throw!

Aaron Cervantes scored four points from two two-point baskets.

Destry Oxford scored two points because of two free throw makes at the very end of the game.

Chase County (12-12), the #3 seed, is playing against the #2 seeded Bridgeport Bulldogs (21-4) on Tuesday, February 24th, 2026, at Prairie View in Ogallala at approximately 5:30 p.m. Mountain Time, 20 minutes after the first game which takes place at 4:00 p.m. Mountain Time.

Sidney (11-13), the #4 seed defeated #5 seeded Mitchell Tigers (now 9-14) 61 to 27 in the first game on Monday, February 23rd, 2026, at the Prairie View Gymnasium in Ogallala.

Sidney will play the #1 seeded Ogallala Indians (22-0) at 4:00 p.m. Mountain Time on Tuesday, February 24th, 2026.
