The Ogallala Lady Indians Girls' High School Varsity basketball team defeated the Lexington Minutemaids 66 to 31 in Ogallala at the Prairie View Gymnasium on the Steve Morgan Court on Friday night, December 6th, 2024.

As someone who watched both the Junior Varsity and the Varsity Girls' and Boys' basketball games in Ogallala on Friday night, I don't believe Ogallala ever trailed for one second in the Girls' Varsity basketball game.

Lexington did however come close to tying the score at one point in which they were only behind by two points, 14 to 12, in the middle part of the 2nd quarter.

After that, Ogallala's Laney Caskey came into the game and made at least two 2-point shots in the second quarter and that helped rally Ogallala as they scored a lot of points after that in the second quarter and Ogallala really never looked back for the remainder of the game.

Lexington's Kianna Clouse scored 10 points with three 3-pointers and one free throw.

Ogallala's Addison Slama and Shaydyn Rasby scored the most points for either team and led the way with 13 points each for Ogallala.

Slama made two 3-point shots and one free throw. Rasby made six two-point shots and a free throw.

For Lexington, Maylin Novoa scored seven points including five free throws. Josslyn Mins scored four points including two two-point shots. Lexington's Abriel Sutton scored 3 points including one free throw. Abrianna Reynosa, Sydney Reutlinger-Maravilla and Aylin Corzo each scored two points. Hannah Scharff scored one point.

For Ogallala, Laney Caskey scored nine points including four two-point baskets. Hayden Shaw scored eight points including two 3-pointers and a two-point shot. Aniston O'Neil scored seven points including three two-point baskets. Sadie Flansburg scored six points including two two-point shots and two free throws. Addison Powell scored four points including making two free throws. Paige Armijo made a three-point shot. Story Rasby and Hayden Ervin each scored two points.

Ogallala led 9-2 with 3:25 left in the first quarter.

Ogallala led 14-8 at the end of the first quarter.

Lexington trailed Ogallala 31 to 15 at halftime.

Ogallala led 43-21 with 2:50 left in the 3rd quarter.

Lexington was behind 50 to 23 with 4.3 seconds left in the 3rd quarter.

Ogallala led 52-23 at the end of the third quarter.

Again, Ogallala won the game 66 to 31.

In their next game, Lexington (0-2) plays at Minden on December 7th. Ogallala (1-0) also just happens to play at Minden today (December 7th).

Lexington's next home game is versus Schuyler on Saturday, December 21st. Ogallala's next home game is on Saturday, December 14th, against Chase County.

Ogallala also defeated Lexington in the Junior Varsity Girls' basketball contest before the Varsity contest 53 to 26.
