The Ogallala Indians High School Girls' Varsity volleyball team fell to the Gering Bulldogs High School Girls' Varsity volleyball team on Tuesday, September 29th, 2026, three sets to two sets in the Prairie View Gymnasium on the Steve Morgan Court in Ogallala, Nebraska.

The Bulldogs came into the contest losing two straight games, to Malcolm and Centura two sets to one in both matches.

On Tuesday night in Ogallala, Gering won sets one, four and five. Ogallala won sets two and three.

Gering won 25-23, lost 21 to 25, 23-25, Gering won 25-17 and they also won the fifth set 15 to 9.

Gothenburg (12-9) travels to Ogallala (11-6) for games next Tuesday, October 6th.

Ogallala also hosts Broken Bow (8-11) and Minden (8-14) next Thursday, October 8th, for a Varsity triangular.

Gering plays Chadron (10-9) on Friday, October 2nd.

Gering plays the Bulldogs of Wheatland, Wyoming (9-7), on Thursday, October 8th.

The headliner for Gering was Jaxie John who had 24 kills and one ace serve.

Ogallala's Alex Ervin had two aces, two blocks and 30 kills according to my scorekeeping (although on the scoreboard at the game it said that she had 29 kills).

If Ervin did officially have 29 kills, I believe she was one kill away from tying the school record set by Laney Caskey for one volleyball match with 30 kills last year I believe which was in an Ogallala home volleyball match.

To start the match Gering led 4-0 and then Alex Ervin had a kill for the Indians from the Ogallala right side to the middle.

Gering and Ogallala were then tied at 5, 6, 7, and 8 before Gering led 10-8.

The Bulldogs then led 12-9 thanks to a Jaxie John kill going from left to right from Gering's perspective.

Ogallala then trailed 12-11 thanks to an Alex Ervin block.

Gering then led 14-12 and 16-12. Alex Ervin then had another kill for Ogallala from right to left to cut the deficit to 17-14.

Alex Ervin then had a kill in the right corner to make it Gering 17, Ogallala 16 and then she had another ace serve down the middle to tie the game at 17!

Shaydyn Rasby then had a kill for the Indians on the Ogallala left side to tie the score up at 18. Ogallala then took a 19 to 18 lead.

Gering then led 20-19 thanks to a kill by Aubrey Anderson.

Alex Ervin then tied the score up at 20 again before Gering led 22 to 20.

Jaxie John then got a kill and Gering led 23 to 21.

Gering then led 24 to 21. Alex Ervin then had a kill that hit the ceiling to keep Ogallala temporarily in the set.

Ervin then had a right to left kill to cut the deficit to one.

Gering then won the first set on a drop shot by Parker Palser 25 to 23.

In set two, Kamryn Klockman got a block and Ogallala led 3 to 0.

A Parker Palser kill got Gering on the scoreboard and they trailed 4 to 1.

Kamryn Klockman got another block and Ogallala led 6 to 3.

Klockman then got a kill and Ogallala led 8 to 3.

Jacey Cochran and Ivy Bruckner each got kills for Gering and they trailed 8 to 5.

After a Shaydyn Rasby kill and an additional point for Ogallala, the Indians led 10 to 5.

Gering then had a Jaxie John kill, a Jacey Cochran ace serve and a Jaxie John kill again.

Harper Smith then hit the ball into the net for Ogallala and Gering trailed by one 10 to 9.

Ogallala then led 11-9 and then Shaydyn Rasby got a kill to give Ogallala a 12 to 10 advantage.

Alex Ervin then got two more kills at points 14 and 16 and the Indians led 16 to 11.

Jacey Cochran then got a kill and two points later she got a block and Gering trailed 16 to 14.

Kooper Knispel then got a kill for Ogallala and the Indians led 17 to 14.

Alex Ervin then got a couple more kills at points 18 and 20 and Ogallala led 20 to 15.

Gering then got back-to-back points from Finley Rotherham and Jaxie John then got a kill and Gering trailed 20 to 18.

Shaydyn Rasby then got points 21 and 22 for Ogallala and the Indians led 22 to 19.

Jaxie John got one more kill and Gering trailed 23 to 21.

Alex Ervin then had a kill that I think landed in the front row on Gering's side on Ogallala's right side.

Ervin then had a kill go from right to middle from the Indian's perspective and Ogallala won set two 25 to 21.

In set number three, it was a lot like set number two as Kamryn Klockman hit the volleyball from right to middle for a kill and Ogallala led 3 to 1.

Klockman then got another kill and Ogallala led 4 to 1.

Shaydyn Rasby then hit a volleyball to the left and Ogallala led 5 to 2.

Gering got to within one at 7 to 6 before Alex Ervin had kills at points eight and nine and eleven and Ogallala led 11 to 7.

Ogallala then led 19 to 16 from an Alex Ervin kill. Ervin then had another kill from right to middle and the Indians led 20 to 17.

Parker Palser then had a kill for Gering and the Bulldogs trailed 21 to 18.

Alex Ervin then had another kill for the Indians and then Jacey Cochran had a kill and then Gering I believe had an ace serve from Aubrey Anderson and the volleyball hit the tape right before it went over the net and Gering trailed 22 to 20 at that point.

Ivy Bruckner then had a kill and Gering trailed by just one point!

Jacey Cochran then got a kill for Gering and the Bulldogs trailed 23 to 22.

Alex Ervin then hit the ball into the net for Ogallala and the game was tied at 23.

Fortunately for Ogallala, they won the next two points as Gering had a line violation for stepping over the half court line I believe and then Addison Powell had an ace serve on the right side as the volleyball hit the tape right before it went over and Ogallala won set three 25 to 23!

To start the fourth set, Harper Smith had an ace serve for the Indians!

Alex Ervin then had a kill on the left side to tie the game at two apiece!

Gering then led 4 to 2 and then Finley Rotherham had a kill for the Bulldogs and they led at that point 5 to 3.

Rotherham then scored a few points later and Gering led 7 to 3.

Jaxie John then had a kill for the Bulldogs and then Shaydyn Rasby had a kill for Ogallala and Gering led 8 to 4.

Adrianna Canales then had a kill in the left corner by two-handing it for Gering where Ogallala just wasn't at on defense during the play!

Addison Powell had a kill for Ogallala and then Jaxie John had a kill on the left side for the Bulldogs and Gering led 10 to 5.

Ogallala then won a point on a controversial play in which Jaxie John hit the volleyball but the officials apparently determined that the volleyball hit the net and then went out of bounds and that Ogallala didn't touch it and Ogallala trailed 12 to 6 at that point.

Jaxie John then got the kill on the next point and Gering led 13 to 6.

Jacey Cochran then got a kill and then Jaxie John had an ace serve and Gering led 16 to 6 at that point of the fourth set.

Alex Ervin then had a couple of kills for the Indians before a Jacey Cochran kill for the Bulldogs and Gering led 17 to 8.

Ervin then had back-to-back kills with Ogallala's tenth point going right to left.

Gering hit their next serve long out-of-bounds from Aubrey Anderson and then Kamryn Klockman had a block and Ogallala trailed 17 to 12 at that point and Gering called timeout.

After a Jacey Cochran kill for Gering, Alex Ervin hit the ball right to left and then Shaydyn Rasby hit the ball to the left and Ogallala trailed 18 to 14 at that point.

Finley Rotherham then hit the ball right to middle for Gering and they led 21 to 14.

Jaxie John then had a kill down the middle for Gering and Addison Powell had a block for Ogallala and Gering led 22 to 16.

Jacey Cochran then hit the ball into the net for Gering and Ogallala got credit for the point.

Gering then scored the next point and they led 14 to 8.

Alex Ervin then got one more kill right to left from Ogallala's perspective and the score was Gering 14, Ogallala 9.

Shaydyn Rasby then hit the ball out of bounds for Ogallala on an odd play where the volleyball hit the net on Ogallala's left side near the out-of-bounds area and then went all the way to the right side from Ogallala's perspective and went out of bounds and Gering didn't touch it.

It will be interesting to see the personnel adjustments on the volleyball court the Ogallala coaching staff makes going forward throughout the rest of the season during games, as there were a few volleyball players on Ogallala who looked like they should have gotten a lot more playing time in Tuesday night's game (as they had an immediate positive impact on the volleyball court) and who probably have earned the right to more playing time moving forward as the season goes along.
