Gothenburg pummels Ogallala in Boys' High School Varsity American Football on Friday, September 18th, 2026

The Ogallala Indians High School Boys' Varsity football team fell to the Gothenburg Swedes on Friday night, September 18th, 2026, 43 to 6 at the Ogallala High School football field in Ogallala, Nebraska.
Braden Ehlers scored two touchdowns and two two-point conversions for Gothenburg.
Dillon Floyd scored one rushing touchdown and also made three extra points for the Swedes.
Gothenburg improved to 4-0 on the season. Gothenburg plays at Ord next week.
Ogallala fell to 0-4 on the season. Ogallala hosts Hershey next Friday night.
After Gothenburg kicked off to start the game, Ogallala started from their own 36 and had three positive rushing plays. They had a run for seven yards by Kolby Nowak, two more yards on the next play and a half yard gain from Nowak on the third play of the drive, but couldn't get a first down.
Ogallala then decided to go for it on fourth down and fumbled the football in which Gothenburg recovered.
Gothenburg then had a scoring drive capped off by a one-yard Braden Ehlers rushing touchdown on the left side with 6:32 to go in the opening quarter.
Dillon Floyd kicked the extra point for Gothenburg and they led 7 to 0.
Floyd went 1 for 1 for one yard throwing the football at least on the drive.
He could have had a 15-yard touchdown pass to Tristan Koch, but a penalty on the Swedes didn't allow the touchdown.
Floyd went 1 for 2 on the drive on plays that were nullified by penalty.
Ogallala then started their next drive on their own 28 and got no gain on a run by Kolby Nowak and then he got two yards on the next play.
Ogallala quarterback Jacoby Bauer then got a completion to Rhys Gilmore for six yards. Ogallala then had to punt on 4th and 2.
Gothenburg then got the football to the Ogallala 29 yard line and turned the ball over on downs as Dillon Floyd threw four straight incompletions to end the drive.
Ogallala then got the football back at their own 29 and Kolby Nowak ran for 6 yards. Then Nowak caught a pass for seven yards and that was the end of the first quarter.
Gothenburg 7, Ogallala 0.
To start the second quarter, Ogallala's Kolby Nowak then ran to the left to the Ogallala 42 for no gain.
On the next play, Ogallala's Rhys Gilmore got put in motion from left to right and Jacoby Bauer threw the pass toward Gilmore and Kingston Kane intercepted it about in-line with the offensive line and the line of scrimmage and ran to the end zone untouched for a touchdown!
Dillon Floyd kicked the extra point good and Gothenburg led 14 to 0 with 11:14 remaining in the second quarter.
Ogallala got the football at their own 20 after the Gothenburg kickoff. Then, Kolby Nowak ran twice for three yards each.
Jacoby Bauer than got sacked at the Ogallala 17 yard line by Kingston Koehn and Ogallala was forced to punt.
Gothenburg started their next drive on the Ogallala 38 with 9:41 to go in the second quarter.
Jace Hammond then recorded a sack for Ogallala and Gothenburg's Dillon Floyd fumbled, but Gothenburg recovered on the play back to the Ogallala 40 yard line.
Maddox Gilligan then gained five yards to the Ogallala 35. Gilligan then ran to the left to the Ogallala 26.
After an incompletion that was dropped thrown to the left and another incompletion thrown to the right side on a slant, Ogallala called timeout with 7:54 to go in the second quarter.
A holding penalty by Gothenburg pushed them back to the Ogallala 37 on third down. Then, an incompletion to the right side made it fourth down.
Dillon Floyd then ran to the Ogallala 23 yard line and Jace Hammond and Corbin Kelly for Ogallala forced Floyd out of bounds.
Turnover on downs again for Gothenburg.
Ogallala got the football on their own 23 with 7:23 to go in the second quarter.
Kolby Nowak ran to the Ogallala 29, the Ogallala 30 and the Ogallala 30 1/2 yard line and then the Indians were forced to punt again.
Gothenburg then had the football at their own 45 yard line.
On the first play, Gothenburg got the football to the Ogallala 42.
Then, on the next play, Tayven Lumpkin put a late but very soft hit on Gothenburg's Maddox Gilligan and the penalty put the football on the Ogallala 27.
Gothenburg then ran the football to the Ogallala 18 and the Ogallala 3 yard line on runs to the left. Dillon Floyd ran to the left and got the football to the Ogallala 1 yard line.
Floyd then punched it in on a run to the right on the next play and Gothenburg led 20 to 0 at that point with 3:41 to go in the second quarter.
Braden Ehlers then ran left for the two-point conversion after Ogallala went offsides and the football was put at the 1 1/2 or the 1 yard line.
Gothenburg 22, Ogallala 0.
Ogallala then had the football on their own 18-yard line with 3:35 to go in the second quarter. After a run to the left to the 24 yard line, Jacoby Bauer ran to the left on second down.
Gothenburg called timeout with 2:39 remaining. Bauer then ran forward and fumbled backwards for Ogallala and the Indians recovered.
Fourth down. Ogallala then punted again and Jaxon Earll took the ball to the Ogallala 48 yard line.
With 2:19 to go, Gothenburg had the football on the Ogallala 48.
Dillon Floyd ran to the Ogallala 37 yard line.
Then, there was an incompletion and a flag on the next play, so I guess the penalty was accepted against Gothenburg.
Gothenburg then had the football on the Ogallala 46.
Gothenburg then had the football get to the Ogallala 29 eventually and Brigham Ricley caught a pass.
Two plays later the Swedes had another completion to the Ogallala 24.
Gothenburg then called their last timeout with seven seconds left.
Gothenburg then lined up to kick a field goal...However, the holder for the Swedes threw it backwards to the quarterback Dillon Floyd on the right side and he threw a bullet to Kash Koehn for a 24-yard touchdown pass!
Gothenburg 28, Ogallala 0.
Kolby Nowak then blocked Gothenburg's extra point.
That was the final play of the first half and Gothenburg led 28 to 0.
Dillon Floyd was 4 for 12 throwing the football in the first half at least. He threw for at least 26 yards and it was probably closer to at least 43 yards.
For Ogallala, Jacoby Bauer threw two completions for at least 13 yards.
To start the second half, Gothenburg got the football on their own 47.
Daniel Dowdy intercepted Floyd's pass and returned it to the Gothenburg 28.
Nowak ran to the 24 of Gothenburg for Ogallala, Bauer lost yards to the 26 and Jace Hammond got to the Gothenburg 23.
Bauer got sacked back at the Gothenburg 28.
Gothenburg got three completions on the next drive which they started on their own 28.
Jaxon Earll got to the Gothenburg 43 and he also caught another pass to the Ogallala 39.
On the third play of the drive, Maddox Gilligan caught a pass down the left sideline and scored a touchdown from 39 yards out!
Ogallala jumped offsides again on the extra point and Braden Ehlers ran left and scored the two-point conversion with 8:31 left in the third quarter.
Gothenburg 36, Ogallala 0.
Ogallala then turned the ball over on downs again. Nowak had no gain on first down from the Ogallala 20, Bauer lost yards to the Ogallala 15 and then Bauer got six yards on the next play to the Ogallala 21.
Ogallala then punted but the punter was standing too far away as it was a bad snap and the punter instead ran to his left and only got back to the line of scrimmage.
Gothenburg got the football at the Ogallala 21 with 5:50 left in the third quarter.
Jace Hammond got a sack back to the Ogallala 25 of Gothenburg's Dillon Floyd.
Brigham Ricley then caught a pass to the Ogallala 1 yard line on the right side and he almost scored.
Braden Ehlers then ran right and he did score and Gothenburg led 42 to 0 at that point with 3:51 left in the third quarter.
Dillon Floyd then made the extra point and Gothenburg led 43 to 0.
After the kickoff happened due to a 40+ point lead, there was a running clock for the remainder of the game in which it doesn't stop at all except for injuries, timeouts, penalties and whenever the officials want the game clock to stop and also at the end of the third quarter.
Ogallala got the ball on their own 28. Nowak ran left to the Ogallala 42.
Two plays later, Daniel Dowdy caught a pass to the Ogallala 48.
Nowak then ran left to the Ogallala 47 and lost a yard and that was the end of the third quarter.
Gothenburg 43, Ogallala 0.
After an offsides penalty by Gothenburg, Ogallala got a first down.
Two negative plays and a penalty for Ogallala put the ball at the Ogallala 44. Gothenburg then went offsides and the ball was at the Ogallala 49 with 10:28 remaining.
Rhys Gilmore then had a pass intended for him incomplete on the right side and then Jacoby Bauer ran left to the Gothenburg 46 and it was a turnover on downs at that point with 9:23 to go.
Gothenburg started on their own 46 and got all the way down to the Ogallala 32 on the drive.
Rhys Gilmore intercepted the Gothenburg quarterback and took it all the way to the Gothenburg 28 yard line.
With 5:21 remaining, Bauer threw an incompletion on the second play of the drive.
Rhys Gilmore then caught a pass from Bauer on a throw to the left and ran right to the middle of the field for a touchdown!
Gothenburg 43, Ogallala 6.
Nowak then ran right on the two-point conversion and didn't get in the end zone.
With 3:51 remaining, the Gothenburg quarterback went 1 for 2 on the final drive at least with a completion to Jaxon Earll to the Ogallala 5 yard line to end the game.
