A lot has changed in the NFC South division. Matt Ryan is no longer with the Atlanta Falcons, Baker Mayfield is competing for a starting quarterback job with the Carolina Panthers (and he took less money to get traded in the first place), Sam Darnold of the Carolina Panthers could be maybe finding a new job with a new team soon (or next offseason), it will be interesting to see who starts at quarterback for the New Orleans Saints (until they get hurt or benched), and Tom Brady retired from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and then unretired.
NFC South Preview:
Atlanta Falcons:
Quarterbacks: Feleipe Franks, Marcus Mariota, Desmond Ridder
This seems like it is quarterback Marcus Mariota’s team now that former quarterback Matt Ryan is with the Indianapolis Colts. Mariota is the only QB on the Falcons roster with an NFL regular season start. In college at quarterback, Desmond Ridder had more starts and games played at Cincinnati than Marcus Mariota did while at Oregon. Maybe that is a negative fact for Ridder (since he went to Cincinnati which is not a Power Five conference school) as Feleipe Franks had more starts at QB in college at Florida than Marcus Mariota did at Oregon. So whoever wins the starting job at the quarterback position knows that this could be a long season as this team is most likely going to finish last (fourth) or third in the division (the NFC South).
Other players I know based only on name recognition: Cordarrelle Patterson (RB), Damien Williams (RB), Kyle Pitts (TE), Younghoe Koo (Kicker), Bradley Pinion (Punter)

New Orleans Saints
Quarterbacks: Ian Book, Andy Dalton, Taysom Hill, Jameis Winston
I feel like this is Taysom Hill’s team at quarterback now even though Andy Dalton clearly is the most experienced NFL QB. I guess the Saints must have signed Dalton because they aren’t sure if any of the other quarterbacks are 100% ready to take over permanently yet. The questions up in the air right now are going to be if Andy Dalton and Jameis Winston (and for that matter, Taysom Hill) can stay healthy.
Jameis Winston I feel like is a bug (or a cancer) that will just not go away. I still cannot believe that he has 77 NFL starts in 83 NFL games. Winston literally has no value to this team in my opinion other than the fact that he had a stretch of consistent playing time and starts from the 2015 season through the 2019 seasons when he was with Tampa Bay. The guy who is supposed to be starting at quarterback for this team is Winston when he is healthy, because anyone who watches American Football knows Hill is just a utility player. Without players being put on the injured list, Andy Dalton probably shouldn’t even be on the Saints roster or he would be on another team or a free agent.
Hill has the most starts of any of the four QB’s on the roster within the last two seasons, but he also has the fewest starts within the last three seasons.
Ian Book has no worries and has nothing to lose. He just has to go out there and compete and hope he doesn’t get cut.
