Ogallala Boys' defeat Sidney in High School Varsity Basketball on Tuesday, February 24th, 2026; To play #2 Bridgeport for C1-10 Subdistrict Championship

The #1 seeded Ogallala Indians High School Boys' Varsity Basketball team defeated the #4 seeded Sidney Red Raiders 83 to 52 on Tuesday, February 24th, 2026, in the Class C1-10 Subdistrict Tournament Semifinals on the Steve Morgan Court in the Prairie View Gymnasium in Ogallala, Nebraska.
Sidney finished the season with 11 wins and 14 losses.
To start the game, Tanner DeCastro and Sawyer Smith each scored a two-pointer for Ogallala.
Then, Keian Kaiser made a three-pointer for Sidney.
Tanner DeCastro then made a two-pointer for the Indians and Ogallala led 6-3.
Keian Kaiser then only made the second of two free throws for Sidney.
Sawyer Smith then made another two-pointer for Ogallala.
Kash Knobbe then made a three for the Red Raiders and Ogallala led 8 to 7.
Rylan Gilmore then made a three for the Indians.
Lance Holly then made a two-pointer for Sidney.
Sawyer Smith then made a three for Ogallala and the Indians led 13 to 9 with 3:52 to go in the first quarter.
Edan Cain then made a two-pointer for the Indians.
Keian Kaiser then made a three for the Red Raiders.
Tanner DeCastro then made a dunk for Ogallala and the Indians led 17 to 12!
Rylan Gilmore made a two-pointer for Ogallala and then he also made a free throw immediately afterward to complete the three-point play.
Rhys Dorcey then made a three for Sidney and Ogallala led 20 to 15 after one quarter.
To start the second quarter, Keian Kaiser made only the second of two free throws for Sidney by swishing it.
Sawyer Smith then hit a three-pointer and Edan Cain made a two-pointer and Ogallala led 25 to 16.
Keian Kaiser then hit another three-pointer for Sidney.
Lincoln Gillen then made a three for Ogallala and the Indians led 5:46 to go in the second quarter.
Tanner DeCastro then made back-to-back free throws and also made a two-pointer and Ogallala led 32 to 19.
Lance Holly then made a two-point basket for Sidney.
Rylan Gilmore then made a two for Ogallala.
Lance Holly and Keian Kaiser each made two-pointers for the Red Raiders and Ogallala led 34 to 25.
Sawyer Smith made a two-point bucket for Ogallala.
Keian Kaiser then hit his fourth three of the first half for Sidney!
Sawyer Smith then made another two-pointer for the Indians.
Kash Knobbe then made his second three of the game for the Red Raiders and after two quarters, Ogallala led 38 to 31.
To start the third quarter, Sawyer Smith, Lincoln Gillen and Edan Cain each made two-pointers for Ogallala.
Alek Doty then hit a three for Sidney.
Edan Cain then made another two for Ogallala and the Indians led 46 to 34 with 4:25 left in the third quarter.
Rylan Gilmore then made a two-pointer for Ogallala.
Lance Holly then hit a three for Sidney.
Sawyer Smith then made two free throws and Ogallala led 50 to 37.
Rylan Gilmore then made a two-pointer and Tanner DeCastro only made the first of two free throws for Ogallala.
Rylan Gilmore then made two free throws and Ogallala led 55 to 37.
Keian Kaiser then made a two-pointer for Sidney.
Sawyer Smith then made a two-pointer and Ogallala led 57 to 39 with 1:36 remaining in the third quarter.
Rylan Gilmore then made another two-pointer for the Indians.
Kash Knobbe then hit a three from the left side for Sidney.
Rhys Gilmore then only made the first of two free throws for Ogallala and the Indians led 60 to 42.
Keian Kaiser then only made the first of two free throws (which he swished), and after three quarters Ogallala led Sidney 60 to 43.
Rhys Gilmore then made a two-pointer for Ogallala.
Kale Kaiser then made a two-pointer and a free throw immediately afterwards for Sidney and Ogallala led 64-46.
Lincoln Gillen then made a three for Ogallala.
Kale Kaiser made a two for Sidney and Rylan Gilmore made a two for Ogallala.
Edan Cain then made a two for Ogallala and Sawyer Smith made back-to-back two-pointers for the Indians and Ogallala led 73 to 48 with 4:22 left in the fourth quarter.
Edan Cain then swished the first free throw and he also made the second free throw for Ogallala and the Indians led 75 to 48.
Sawyer Smith then made a two-pointer for the Indians while Rylan Gilmore got a steal and made a dunk for Ogallala!
Rylan Gilmore then got called for offensive goaltending on the next Ogallala offensive possession.
Sawyer Smith then made a two-pointer for the Indians and Ogallala led 81 to 48 with 2:08 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Kale Kaiser then made a two-pointer for Sidney.
Blake Robb then shot the basketball for Ogallala (on a layup type-of-shot) and the ball might have went in the basket if Cy Lowery didn't touch it, but Lowery did touch it and he made a dunk for Ogallala and the basket counted for the Indians!
Kyle Jaggers then made a two-pointer for Sidney and Ogallala won 83 to 52.
Keian Kaiser scored 19 points for Sidney. He made four three-pointers and three free throws!
Sawyer Smith scored 28 points for Ogallala. He made two three-pointers and two free throws.
For Sidney, Kash Knobbe scored nine points. He made three three-pointers!
Lance Holly also scored nine points. He made one three-pointer.
Kale Kaiser scored seven points. He made three two-pointers and one free throw.
Rhys Dorcey and Alek Doty each scored three points. They each made one three-pointer.
Kyle Jaggers scored two points. He made one two-pointer.
For Ogallala, Rylan Gilmore scored 19 points. He made three free throws.
Edan Cain scored 12 points. He made five two-point baskets and two free throws.
Tanner DeCastro scored 11 points. He made three free throws.
Lincoln Gillen scored eight points. He made two three-pointers.
Cy Lowery scored two points as he made a dunk!
Rhys Gilmore also made a two-point basket and he totaled two points.
Ogallala (23-0) will play the #2 seed Bridgeport Bulldogs (22-4) on Thursday, February 26th, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. Mountain Time at Prairie View in Ogallala.
Bridgeport defeated the #3 seed Chase County Longhorns (now 12-13) by a final score of 54-50 on Tuesday, February 24th, 2026.
Bridgeport is currently ranked 25th in the entire state of Nebraska according to Maxpreps.com.
Ogallala is now currently ranked 71st in the entire nation and first in the entire state of Nebraska according to Maxpreps.com.
Bridgeport (22-4) is currently ranked 5th in Class C1 according to nsaahome.org with 45.1923 wild card points.
Ogallala (23-0) is currently ranked 1st in Class C1 according to nsaahome.org with 47.9130 wild card points.
There are only two Subdistrict Tournament Championship games in Class C1 in the state of Nebraska that will feature teams that do not feature both the #1 and the #2 seeds.
O'Neill is ranked 47th while Columbus Lakeview is ranked 29th currently according to nsaahome.org.
The District Finals statewide is scheduled for Saturday, February 28th, 2026.
The State Tournament is scheduled for March 11th through 14th, 2026, in Lincoln, Nebraska.
