Ogallala defeats Beatrice in Girls' High School Varsity Basketball in DC West Holiday Tournament on December 30th, 2025

The Ogallala Indians Girls' High School Varsity basketball team defeated the Beatrice Orangmen by a final score of 53 to 47 on Tuesday afternoon, December 30th, 2025, at the Douglas County West High School basketball court in Valley, Nebraska.


This was the first day of two days for the Douglas County West High School Varsity Basketball Holiday Tournament.


Callie Schwisow scored 16 points for Beatrice. She made two three-pointers and four free throws.


Hayden Shaw scored a season-high 21 points for Ogallala and made a season-high six threes. She also made one free throw.


Shaw has now scored 10 or most points twice this regular season.


Ogallala started off the game by making five three-pointers. Beatrice started off the game making two three-pointers.


Sophie Gleason and Brooke Gleason each made threes for Beatrice in the first quarter.


Kiley Hatcliff and Tatum Tempelmeyer each made two free throws for Beatrice in the first quarter.


Ogallala led 12-10 after the first quarter.


Hayden Shaw and Aniston O'Neil each made two threes in the first quarter for Ogallala.


Ogallala led 17 to 12 with 4:32 to go in the second quarter.


Ogallala had twice as many points as Beatrice by a score of 24-12 with a little more than two minutes to go in the first half.


Beatrice then reeled off nine of eleven points to make the score Ogallala 26 and Beatrice 21 with 1:21 to go in the second quarter.


Beatrice then tied the game with 31.6 seconds to go in the first half.


Beatrice led 28 to 26 after two quarters at halftime.


Shaw and O'Neil each made one three in the second quarter and totaled nine points in the first half.


Addison Powell scored two in the second quarter for Ogallala.


Shaydyn Rasby scored four points in the first half for Ogallala, all in the second quarter.


Ogallala led 36 to 33 with 3:36 left in the third quarter.


Addison Slama made a three to end the third quarter.


Shaw scored nine points in the third quarter for 18 total points up to that point.


Ogallala led 42 to 35 after three quarters.


The Orangemen scored first in the fourth quarter and trailed 42 to 38 with 5:32 left to go in the fourth quarter.


The Indians led by seven at 48-41 with 3:02 to go in the fourth quarter.


Ogallala led 52 to 43 with 1:05 to go in the fourth quarter.


Beatrice trailed 52 to 45 with 39.0 seconds to go in the fourth quarter.


Beatrice then made a basket and they trailed by six at that point.


Callie Schwisow missed from three with 16 seconds to go in regulation and if it would have been made, it would have been 53 to 50 in favor of Ogallala.


Ogallala basically got the ball inbounded and ran away from the Beatrice defenders toward Ogallala's own basket to end the game.


Ogallala played Omaha Gross Catholic Cougars on Wednesday, December 31st, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. Central Time/12:30 p.m. Mountain Time.


For Beatrice, Tatum Tempelmeyer scored eight points. She made two three-pointers.


Sophie Gleason scored seven points, including a three-pointer.


Kiley Hatcliff scored seven points, with all seven coming from the free throw line.


Brooke Gleason made two three-pointers totaling six points.


Miley Loomis made a three-pointer for Beatrice.


For Ogallala, Aniston O'Neil made three threes and totaled 10 points. She has scored 10 points and also made three three-pointers in all games but one game so far this regular season.


O'Neil has totaled at least five points in every game so far this season.


Shaydyn Rasby scored nine for Ogallala. She made one free throw and four two-pointers.


Rasby has scored nine points in all but one game this regular season at the Varsity level.


Laney Caskey scored eight points from four two-pointers. She has scored eight points in all games but the first game of the regular season at the Varsity level.


Addison Slama made a three-pointer. Slama has now made a three-pointer in four of her last five Varsity games.


Addison Powell made a two-pointer. She has scored in every game this regular season.


Beatrice was 5-1 after this game!


Ogallala is still undefeated at 7-0 after this game!


Beatrice ended up defeating Douglas County West 50-41 on Wednesday, December 31st, 2025.


Beatrice plays at Standing Bear on Saturday, January 3rd, and then hosts Minden on Tuesday, January 6th.


Ogallala is set to host the Bridgeport Bulldogs on Tuesday, January 6th.


The Indians travel to Cozad on Friday, January 9th.
