Ogallala Girls' defeat Gothenburg in High School Varsity Basketball on Friday, February 20th, 2026; To play Louisville on Friday, February 27th

The #1 ranked Ogallala Indians High School Girls' Varsity basketball team defeated the #2 ranked Gothenburg Swedes in the Class C1-10 Subdistrict Tournament Championship Game on Friday, February 20th, 2026, by a final score of 66 to 31 on the Steve Morgan Court in the Prairie View Gymnasium in Ogallala, Nebraska.


This was a basketball game that was originally supposed to be played on Thursday, February 19th, 2026, but was postponed due to snow.


Zoe Beveridge scored eight points for Gothenburg. She made two three-pointers!


Aniston O'Neil scored 14 points for Ogallala. She made three three-pointers and one free throw.


To start the game, Aniston O'Neil made only the second of two free throws and Ogallala led one to zero.


Laney Caskey also only made the second of two free throws for the Indians and Ogallala led two to zero.


Shaydyn Rasby then scored a two-pointer for Ogallala.


Zoe Beveridge then hit a three-pointer for Gothenburg.


Aniston O'Neil then hit a three for Ogallala and the Indians led 7-3 with 5:17 left in the first quarter.


Laney Caskey then made a two-point basket for Ogallala.


Halsey Thomalla then scored a two for Gothenburg.


Aniston O'Neil then made a two-pointer for Ogallala and the Indians again led 11-5 with 3:44 left in quarter number one.


Halsey Thomalla then made a two-pointer and immediately afterward made a free throw to complete the three-point play for Gothenburg.


Aniston O'Neil and Addison Powell each made a two-pointer for Ogallala and the Indians led 15-8 with 2:20 left in the second quarter.


Zoe Beveridge then hit another three for Gothenburg!


Harper Smith then made a two-pointer for Ogallala while Hayden Shaw hit back-to-back threes for the Indians!


Smith then made another two for Ogallala and after one quarter Gothenburg trailed Ogallala 25-11.


Zoe Beveridge then made a two-pointer for Gothenburg.


Shaydyn Rasby scored a two for Ogallala and the Indians led 27-13 with 3:55 left in quarter number two.


Laney Caskey then made back-to-back free throws for Ogallala and swished the second made free throw.


Aniston O'Neil then made another three for Ogallala and the Indians led 32-13 with 2:59 left in the second quarter.


Harper Smith then made back-to-back two-point baskets for Ogallala and the Indians led at halftime 36 to 13!


Smith made a couple of two-pointers after a missed Ogallala shot on the opposite side of where Smith was because the Gothenburg defense was covering any other Ogallala basketball player except her!


In the first half, Zoe Beveridge scored eight points while Halsey Thomalla scored five points for Gothenburg.


For Ogallala, Aniston O'Neil scored 11 points in the first half while Harper Smith scored eight points, Hayden Shaw scored six points and Laney Caskey scored five points.


To start the third quarter, Shaydyn Rasby scored two points for Ogallala.


Then, Hayden Shaw made a third three for Ogallala.


Halsey Thomalla then made two free throws for Gothenburg and Ogallala led 41-15.


Laney Caskey then made two free throws and then she made a two-pointer for the Indians.


Ellie Wyatt then made a two-pointer and Lindly Anderson made only the first of two free throws for Gothenburg.


Laney Caskey then made another two-pointer and Ogallala led 47-18 with under three minutes left in the third quarter.


Addison Powell and Hayden Shaw then each made two-pointers for Ogallala.


Lindly Anderson then hit a three-pointer for the Swedes.


Sadie Flansburg then made a three-pointer for Ogallala and they led 54-21 after three quarters.


To start the fourth quarter, Kinley Foster made a two-pointer for Gothenburg.


Then, Shaydyn Rasby made a two for the Indians and Ogallala led 56-23 with 6:26 left in the fourth quarter.


Kinley Foster then scored two more points for the Swedes.


Aniston O'Neil hit a third three-pointer for Ogallala and the Indians led 59-25 with 4:48 remaining in quarter number four.


Sam Bell then hit a three and a two-pointer for Ogallala!


Lindly Anderson made two free throws for Gothenburg and Aubrey Cross made a two-pointer for the Swedes and Ogallala led 64-29 with 1:15 to go in the fourth quarter.


Haidyn Rapp made a two-pointer for Ogallala.


Grace Ever then made a two-pointer for Gothenburg and Ogallala won the game and the Class C1-10 Subdistrict Championship Game by a final score of 66-31.


Both Gothenburg and Ogallala had 20 wins and 4 losses in the regular season and postseason after this game!


For Gothenburg, Halsey Thomalla scored seven points. She made three free throws.


Lindly Anderson scored six points. She made one three-pointer and three free throws!


Kinley Foster scored four points. She made two two-point baskets.


Aubrey Cross, Grace Evert and Ellie Wyatt each scored two points.


For Ogallala, Laney Caskey and Hayden Shaw each scored 11 points.


Caskey made five free throws.


Shaw made three three-pointers!


Shaydyn Rasby and Harper Smith each scored eight points. They each made four two-pointers!


Sam Bell scored five points. She made one three-pointer!


Addison Powell scored four points.


Sadie Flansburg made a three-pointer and totaled three points.


Haidyn Rapp scored two points.


In the District Final, #5 Gothenburg is slated to host #12 Scotus Central Catholic on Friday, February 27th, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. Central Time.


Ogallala, on the other hand, the #4 seed in Class C1 is scheduled to host the #13 seed Louisville Lions on Friday, February 27th, 2026, in Ogallala, in the District Final.


Bridgeport, ranked as the 10th seed in Class C1 also played in the C1-10 Subdistrict Tournament, and they will travel to 7th seeded Fort Calhoun for a game on Friday, February 27th, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Central Time in the District Final.
