Ogallala Girls' defeat Hershey in High School Varsity Basketball on Friday, December 19th, 2025

The Ogallala Lady Indians Girls' High School Varsity Basketball team defeated the Hershey Panthers 75 to 36 on Friday, December 19th, 2025, at the Prairie View Gymnasium in Ogallala, Nebraska.
Kamryn Butterfield scored 21 points for Hershey. She scored 12 points in the first half.
She made 10 two-pointers in the game and also made one free throw.
Aniston O'Neil led the way for Ogallala scoring 26 points. She made six three-pointers for a total of 18 points.
O'Neil scored 17 points in the first half. She made two free throws in the game.
Hershey led 2-0 with 6:48 left in the first quarter.
Ogallala took a couple of minutes to score their first points of the game.
The Lady Indians led 18 to 6 after one quarter.
Ogallala kept the pressure on and led 25 to 9 with 5:22 left in the 2nd quarter.
There was hardly any scoring as the Panthers trailed 27 to 9 with 3:50 left in the 2nd quarter.
Both teams then started to score and Ogallala led 36 to 17 at halftime after two quarters.
Ogallala then scored a lot early in the second half and they led 51 to 21 with 5:21 to go in the third quarter.
Both teams got some points again and Hershey trailed 59 to 27 with 2:23 left in the third quarter.
Hershey still trailed 61 to 29 with 1:28 left in the third quarter.
Ogallala then scored more points than Hershey and led 65 to 31 after three quarters.
With 5:20 left in the fourth quarter, Ogallala led 73 to 33 and the running clock started for the remainder of the game.
For those of you that don't know, the running clock is when the game clock keeps going regardless of whether the basketball goes out of bounds or there is a foul called. The game clock only stops during timeouts and injuries where the officials demand that the game clock be stopped.
Ogallala won the game 75 to 36.
For Hershey, Lexi Pinkerton scored four points. She made two free throws.
Ryleigh Melvin made a three-pointer. Rachel Simonson also totaled three points. She made one free throw.
Kyra Hacker and Kenna Bringewatt each scored two points.
Demi DaMoude made a free throw by totaling one point.
For Ogallala, Addison Slama scored 16 points. She only scored two points in the first half.
Slama made four three-pointers.
Laney Caskey totaled 11 points. She scored eight points in the first half.
Caskey made one free throw.
Hayden Shaw made two three-point shots and totaled six points.
Shaydyn Rasby scored six points as well making three two-pointers.
Harper Smith also scored six points, including a three-point make and a free throw make.
Addison Powell and Sam Bell each scored two points.
Hershey fell to 4-1 on the season.
The Panthers defeated every team they have beaten so far this season by at least 11 points.
Hershey is ranked 14th in Class C2 right now according to nsaahome.org with 43.2000 wild card points.
Hershey (4-1) hosts Broken Bow (4-3) on Tuesday, December 23rd, 2025. Broken Bow is ranked 25th in Class C1 with 41.0000 wild card points.
Ogallala improved to 4-0 on the season.
The Lady Indians defeated Thunder Basin (Gillette, Wyoming) in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, on Saturday, December 20th, 2025, by a final score of 76 to 48, to improve to five wins and zero losses.
On nsaahome.org, it says Ogallala is 6-0 currently as I am typing this on Monday, December 22nd, 2025, but that is not correct! Ogallala has five wins and zero losses currently. Ogallala is tied for 5th with Central City in wild card points at 45.5000 right now, but that again is probably wrong.
Ogallala plays at Gering (3-3) on Tuesday, December 23rd, 2025.
Gering is ranked 13th in Class B with 41.5000 wild card points.
Ogallala plays on December 30th and December 31st in the Douglas County West Holiday Tournament.
Ogallala's next home game is on Tuesday, January 6th, 2026, against Bridgeport.
