Ogallala is 14-1, defeats Sidney in Girls' High School Varsity Basketball on Saturday, January 24th, 2026

The Ogallala Indians High School Girls' Varsity basketball team defeated the Sidney Red Raiders 68-65 at the Prairie View Gymnasium on Saturday, January 24th, 2026, in Ogallala, Nebraska.


In a game that was slowed down and resulted in a lot of fouls by both teams, Ogallala came back to win after trailing by nine in the middle of the fourth quarter.


Jordynn Schnell fouled out for Sidney while Laney Caskey and Harper Smith fouled out for Ogallala.


Sidney's Lilee Wieser and Chloe Schrader and Ogallala's Addison Slama all finished the game with four fouls.


Reagan Nesbitt scored 20 points for Sidney. She made one three-pointer and one free throw.


Aniston O'Neil scored 22 points for Ogallala. She made four three-pointers and two free throws.


O'Neil has scored in every Varsity game this season. This game was the most points she has scored in for the actual year of 2026.


To start the game, Addison Slama made a three-pointer for Ogallala.


Reagan Nesbitt then made two points for Sidney and Ogallala led 3-2.


Aniston O'Neil then scored two for Ogallala.


Jordynn Schnell then scored two for Sidney and Ogallala led 5-4.


Addison Slama then hit another three for Ogallala.


Reagan Nesbitt and Chloe Schrader each made one free throw and Sidney trailed Ogallala 8-6.


Laney Caskey then made a two and also made a free throw to complete a three-point play.


Aniston O'Neil then made back-to-back free throws for Ogallala and the Indians led 13-6.


Lilee Wieser then made a two-pointer for Sidney.


Ogallala then scored the next eight points partly from a three-pointer and a two-pointer by Aniston O'Neil.


Shaydyn Rasby then had back-to-back two-pointers and Ogallala led 22-8.


Kierra Schrader then made a two and Ogallala led 22-10 after one quarter.


Sidney was 2 for 8 at the free throw line in the first quarter while Ogallala was 3 for 3.


Kierra Schrader then made a two for Sidney.


Laney Caskey then made two free throws and Shaydyn Rasby made a two and Ogallala led 26-12.


Lilee Wieser then made a two for Sidney while Laney Caskey made a two for Ogallala.


Reagan Nesbitt then made a two for Sidney and Ogallala led 28-16 with 5:13 left in the second quarter.


Addison Slama then made a three for Ogallala and the Indians led 31-18 with 4:02 left in the second quarter.


Jordynn Schnell made four straight free throws for Sidney.


Schnell then made another two-pointer and Ogallala led 31-22 with 3:36 left in the second quarter.


Shaydyn Rasby then made a two-pointer for Ogallala while Kierra Schrader made a free throw for Sidney.


Then, Reagan Nesbitt made a two for Sidney and the Indians led 33-25.


Aniston O'Neil then hit her second three of the game for Ogallala.


Sidney then scored the next seven points.


Laramey Misegadis made a two while Kierra Schrader made two free throws.


Then, Reagan Nesbitt made a two while Laramey Misegadis made one of two free throws and Sidney trailed 36-32.


Nesbitt then made another two and Ogallala led at halftime after two quarters 36-34.


Sidney was 8 for 11 in the second quarter at the free throw line while Ogallala was 2 for 6 at the free throw line in the second quarter.


Reagan Nesbitt then scored right off the bat and the game was tied at 36 early in the third quarter.


Lilee Wieser then made a free throw for Sidney.


Shaydyn Rasby then made a two for Ogallala.


Kierra Schrader then made a two and Sidney led 39-38.


Addison Slama then made a free throw for Ogallala and the game was tied at 39 with 4:58 left in the third quarter.


Lilee Wieser then made both free throws for Sidney and Taylor Sprenger hit a three for the Red Raiders with 3:00 left in the third quarter.


Hayden Shaw then responded with a three for Ogallala and Sidney led 44-42.


Taylor Sprenger then hit another three for Sidney.


Ogallala then scored the next seven points because of an Aniston O'Neil two-pointer.


Then, Shaydyn Rasby scored a two and Aniston O'Neil made a three-pointer and Ogallala led after three quarters 49-47.


Sidney was 3 for 5 at the free throw line in the third quarter while Ogallala was 1 for 4 at the free throw line in the third quarter.


To start the fourth quarter, Taylor Sprenger made a three-pointer for Sidney and the Red Raiders led 50-49.


Then, Shaydyn Rasby made a free throw to tie the game at 50!


Kierra Schrader made two free throws with 5:59 to go in the fourth quarter.


Laramey Misegadis then made one of two free throws for Sidney.


Shaydyn Rasby then made a two-pointer for Ogallala and Sidney led 53-52 with 5:11 to go in the fourth quarter.


Sidney then scored the next seven points.


Reagan Nesbitt made a two and then she hit a three!


Kierra Schrader then made a two for Sidney and the Red Raiders led 60-52 with 3:30 to go in the fourth quarter.


Addison Slama then made a free throw for Ogallala.


Taylor Sprenger then made a two-pointer for Sidney and the Red Raiders led 62-53.


Addison Slama then hit back-to-back threes and Ogallala trailed 58-62 with 1:46 left in the fourth quarter!


Harper Smith then made two free throws and Ogallala trailed by two.


Then, Harper Smith got a steal and a score and Ogallala tied the game at 62 with 1:24 to go in the fourth quarter!


Lilee Wieser then made one of two free throws for Sidney.


Sidney called timeout with 1:21 left in the fourth quarter.


Reagan Nesbitt then made a two-pointer for Sidney and the Red Raiders led 65-62.


After a couple of missed free throws from Shaydyn Rasby, Aniston O'Neil made a two-pointer for Ogallala.


Harper Smith then picked up her fifth personal foul with 56.4 left in the fourth quarter and Ogallala had two players who fouled out at that point and the other Ogallala player who already fouled out a few minutes before that was Laney Caskey.


Shaydyn Rasby then made one of two free throws and the game was tied at 65!


Aniston O'Neil then made a three for Ogallala and Sidney called timeout with 31.0 seconds left in the fourth quarter!


Sidney's Jordynn Schnell then made an over-and-back mistake with 28 seconds left as she straddled the half court line and Ogallala got the ball because of a turnover.


Hayden Shaw then missed two free throws for Ogallala and a jump ball happened with 23.9 seconds left!


Addison Powell then missed a free throw and then Ogallala didn't get a chance at a second free throw because one of the Ogallala players crossed the three-point line or the free throw line extended in the Ogallala free throw shooter's peripheral line of vision that they aren't allowed to cross! Or, perhaps it was a free throw violation on the shooter or one of the Ogallala players who were lining the key. Whatever actually happened, Ogallala was not granted a second free throw.


Sidney then had the ball and couldn't score and Ogallala hung on to win by a final score of 68 to 65!


Sidney was 4 for 6 at the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Ogallala was 5 for 15 at the free throw line in the fourth quarter.


Ogallala's next home game for Girls' and Boys' Varsity basketball will be on Saturday, February 7th, 2026, against Broken Bow.


For Sidney, Kierra Schrader scored 13 points. She made five free throws!


Taylor Sprenger scored 11 points. She made three three-pointers!


Jordynn Schnell and Lilee Wieser each scored eight points and they each both made four free throws.


Laramey Misegadis scored four points. She made two free throws.


Chloe Schrader scored one point.


Addison Slama scored 16 points for Ogallala. She made four three-pointers and two free throws.


This is tied for the most points she has scored this season and this is also the most points she has scored in a Varsity game in the actual year of 2026.


Slama has scored in five straight Varsity games.


Shaydyn Rasby also scored 16 points. She made seven two-pointers and two free throws.


Rasby has scored in every game she has played in this season. This is the second-highest scoring total for Rasby in the actual year of 2026.


Laney Caskey scored seven points. She made three free throws.


Caskey has scored in four straight games. This was the first game that she at least scored points in that she failed to score 10 or more points in a Varsity game in the actual year of 2026.


She has scored in all but one Varsity game this season.


Harper Smith scored four points. She made two free throws.


Smith has scored in every Varsity game in the actual year of 2026. She has scored in eight straight Varsity games.


Hayden Shaw scored three points by making a one three-pointer!


Shaw has scored in every single Varsity game this season.


Sidney is 11-3 now this season and is tied for fourth place with Beatrice in the rankings according to nsaahome.org in Class B with 43.1429 wild card points in the early afternoon on January 27th, 2026.


Ogallala is 14-1 now this season and is in second place in the rankings according to nsaahome.org in Class C1 with 46.6667 wild card points in the early afternoon on January 27th, 2026.


Sidney will play in the Western Conference Tournament this week from January 26th, 2026 through Saturday, January 31st, 2026.


The Red Raiders next regularly scheduled game is at Gering on February 6th and vs. Scottsbluff on Saturday, February 7th.


Ogallala has a first round bye in the Southwest Conference Tournament, so they will play on Friday, January 30th, 2026, at the North Platte Community College South Campus in the semifinal round.


The Indians will play a makeup game at Chase County on Tuesday, February 3rd. They will also play at McCook on Friday, February 6th.
