Ogallala sweeps McCook in High School Varsity Volleyball, Ogallala defeats McCook in the Junior Varsity and Reserve matches in three sets each

The Ogallala Lady Indians High School Varsity volleyball team swept the McCook Bison three sets to zero on Tuesday evening, September 9th, 2025, at the Prairie View Gymnasium on the Steve Morgan Court in Ogallala, Nebraska!
Ogallala won 25-22, 25-22 and 25-15.
McCook's Jaylea Walgren had 1 ace and 11 kills and 2 blocks. Ogallala's Alex Ervin led the way with three aces and 19 kills.
McCook's Cali Crawford had 1 ace and 9 kills. She also had zero mistakes that were not serving errors for someone who had a lot of kills for either team on Tuesday night.
Morgan Griffin had six kills. Abby Renner had 1 block and 5 kills.
Karstyn Porter and Jaelyn Kuykendall had one kill each.
For Ogallala, Tenlie Flansburg had 1 block and 6 kills. Laney Caskey had two blocks and five kills.
Shaydyn Rasby had four blocks and two kills.
Addison Powell had five kills.
Hayden Shaw had two kills.
McCook led set #1 6-3, 10-7, 14-9, 17-13 and 20-14.
Ogallala then made a comeback and cut the deficit to 16-21 and 19-22. The Indians then won the next several points and won the set on a Tenlie Flansburg kill 25-22.
In set #2, both teams were tied at four. Then Ogallala pulled away and led 8-4, 10-6 and 11-8.
McCook came back to tie at 11 all and then Ogallala led 14-11, and 16-13 before McCook tied it at 16 again!
Ogallala led 18-16, McCook tied it up at 18, McCook took a 19-18 lead and a 21-20 lead before it was tied up at 22 again.
Ogallala took a 23-22 lead and won set #2 25-22.
In set #3, Ogallala led 6-2.
McCook cut the deficit to 4-6, but Ogallala kept scoring and led 10-4, 11-6, 12-7, and 15-7 before McCook finally took a timeout!
Ogallala led 18-8, 18-11, 19-14, 21-15 before Ogallala scored their 24th point of the set on an Alex Ervin ace serve!
Then, Ogallala's Hayden Shaw got a kill to end the game by tipping it into the middle of the court with the campfire play!
Ogallala won set #3 25-15 and the match three sets to zero!
In the Junior Varsity contest, Ogallala won two sets to one against McCook.
Ogallala lost set #1 15-25, but won sets two and three, 25-12 and 15-10.
For McCook, Bailey Kolbo had seven kills.
Summer Knight had thee aces and three kills. Karagynn Brown had five kills and one block.
Klaire McCorkle had two aces and one block.
Emma McConville had one ace serve.
For Ogallala, Samantha Bell had two aces and six kills.
Kooper Knispel had seven kills.
Shaydyn Rasby had one block and five kills.
Tenlie Flansburg had five kills. Brooklyn Robb had three aces and two kills.
Inga Burton had four kills.
In set #1, McCook led 4-1 and then Ogallala tied it at four. Ogallala took a 7-5 lead and then Klaire McCorkle's serving led to nine straight points for McCook and they led 14-7.
Summer Knight also served well starting when McCook led 15-8 and she kept serving until they lead 21-9.
Ogallala trailed 10-22, 11-23 and 15-23. McCook called a timeout and then they won the set 25-15.
In set number two, Ogallala led 4-1 and 8-2. Ogallala led 12-7, 16-8 and 20-10.
McCook got within 11-20, but could get no closer as Ogallala won set two 25-12.
In set three, Ogallala led 4-3 and then McCook tied it at five.
Both teams traded points until it was tied at eight and then Ogallala led 10-8, 11-9 and 13-10.
After a McCook timeout, Ogallala hung on to win set number three 15-10.
So Ogallala won the match two sets to one.
In the McCook at Ogallala Reserve Girls' volleyball match, Ogallala won the match two sets to one.
In set number one, Ogallala won 25-15.
In set number two, McCook won 21-25.
And in set number three, Ogallala won 17-15.
For the visitors from McCook, Kayleigh Steinbeck had 1 ace and five kills.
Payvn Terry and Bailey Kolbo each had three aces and three kills.
Brynn Gross had one ace and three kills.
Analia Almanza had three aces.
Hannah Ralston had one ace.
For Ogallala, Sara Stevens had three aces and four kills.
Samantha Bell had six kills. Marly Eastman had two aces and four kills.
Anna Kroeger had two aces and three kills.
Molly Armijo had one ace and three kills.
Rose Davis had three kills (two for sure).
Camber Lippert had one ace and one kill.
In the first set McCook led 5-2. Ogallala tied it at seven, then they led 12-8 and 16-10.
Ogallala kept a lead and lead 19-12 and 22-13. Ogallala won the set 25-15.
In set number two, Ogallala led 3-0. Ogallala still led 6-2 and 9-7.
McCook then tied the set at 12 and Ogallala led 16-13. Ogallala led 19-15.
Ogallala led 21-17 and then McCook scored several points and won the set 25-21 thanks to the serving of Bailey Kolbo.
In set number three, Ogallala trailed 2-0.
McCook trailed 3-4 and 7-3. Ogallala then led 8-6 before McCook tied it at nine, ten and 11.
Ogallala led 14-12, but McCook came back and took the lead 15-14 thanks to a Brynn Gross kill.
Ogallala tied it thanks to Anna Kroeger and then Sam Bell helped Ogallala win 17-15.
So Ogallala won the match two sets to one!
McCook plays at Holdrege on September 11th.
Ogallala will be going to the Cozad Tournament on Saturday, September 13th.
Ogallala won't be having a home game for a while for Girls' High School volleyball.
