Countdown to Kickoff: NFL Regular Season Week 1 (Less than 57 days away)
(Editor's Note: With less than 22 days now until the first game of the National Football League preseason, it is now time to begin the countdown to kickoff of the 2022-2023 NFL season. As of Saturday, July 9th, 2022, at 8 p.m. Eastern Time, each day for the next 26 days, I will write a story featuring each matchup for that week’s scheduled NFL games. The goal of writing these stories is to try to determine who is going to win each game of the 2022-2023 NFL preseason, regular season and postseason based on previous matchups each team has played against each other. Each day, each story I write, the hypothetical standings will be updated to reflect what may actually happen in the 2022-2023 NFL season. I may also offer my predictions on who will win each game. I reserve the right to change my predictions before the first game of each week. However, my real goal is to publish all of my predictions of the 2022-2023 NFL season before the first preseason game starts. I want to do that, because I don't want to be making emotional decisions about my predictions at the last minute. I don't want to make my predictions at the last minute because I don't want to get my predictions wrong.)

In National Football League regular season Week 1, the most competitive matchup based on the combined won-lost-tie winning percentages from the preseason, regular season and postseason games from the 2021-2022 NFL season is the Buffalo Bills-Los Angeles Rams game.
The second-most competitive game is supposed to be the Kansas City Chiefs-Arizona Cardinals game and the third-most competitve game is supposed to be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Dallas Cowboys game.
The fourth-most competitive game is supposed to be the Pittsburgh Steelers-Cincinnati Bengals game while the fifth-most competitive game is the New England Patriots-Miami Dolphins game.
The Jacksonville Jaguars-Washington Commanders game is supposed to be the most anti-competitive game of NFL regular season Week 1. So, if the opposite of what should happen happens (reverse psychology), the Jaguars-Commanders game will be the most competitive game in NFL regular season Week 1.
The San Francisco 49ers-Chicago Bears game is the eighth-most competitive game of NFL regular season Week 1 meaning it could be the most competitive game of any regular season Week 1 matchup since it is one of the four middle competitive games of NFL regular season Week 1.
The other middle competitive games are the ninth, tenth and eleventh most-competitive games of NFL regular season Week 1. Those games are the Baltimore Ravens at New York Jets, the Indianapolis Colts at the Houston Texans and the Denver Broncos at the Seattle Seahawks. These three games could also end up being the most competitive games of NFL regular season Week 1.
The most interesting of the six games I haven't mentioned yet has to be the Cleveland Browns going to Charlotte, North Carolina, to go up against the Carolina Panthers and maybe face former Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield as the potential starting quarterback for the Panthers.
