Ogallala Boys' fall to Gothenburg in High School Reserve Basketball on Monday, January 12th, 2026

The Ogallala Indians High School Boys' Reserve basketball team lost to the Gothenburg Swedes by a final score of 77-44 on Monday, January 12th, 2026, at the Ogallala Auditorium in Ogallala, Nebraska.


Kale Strauser scored 20 points for Gothenburg. He made one three-pointer and three free throws.


Strauser scored 12 points in the first half which was all in the second quarter.


Jacoby Bauer scored 20 points for Ogallala. He made six three-pointers!


Bauer scored 11 points in the first half.


To start the game, Jacoby Bauer made a two-pointer and Ogallala led 2-0.


Then Callen Johnson made a free throw for Gothenburg.


Bauer then hit another three for Ogallala and the Indians led 5-1.


Anthony Perrin then made a two for Ogallala and the Indians led 7-1.


Jacoby Bauer then hit another three and Ogallala led 10-1.


Burke Finke then made a three for Gothenburg and they trailed 10-3.


Gothenburg then got another bucket which was made by Dillon Floyd and the Swedes cut the deficit to five at 10-5.


Gunner Thompson then made a two and Gothenburg trailed 7-10.


Dillon Floyd then made another bucket and Gothenburg trailed by just one at 10-9 with 3:51 to go in the first quarter.


Gunner Thompson and Miles Christensen then made one two-pointer each for Gothenburg and they led 13-10.


Tate Kirchner made one free throw and Ogallala had 11 points.


Teague Butterfield then made two free throws and the Swedes had 15 points.


Gunner Thompson made another two and Gothenburg led 17-11.


Zach Dietrich then made a two for Ogallala and the score was 17-13 in favor of Gothenburg.


Burke Finke then made a two for Gothenburg and they led 19-13.


Teague Butterfield then made a free throw and then he also made a two-pointer and Gothenburg led 22-13 after one quarter.


Gothenburg led 22-13 after one quarter.


The Swedes scored some points and led 26-15.


Easton Knispel (if I am not mistaken or someone else for Ogallala) scored two points and got Ogallala to 15 points.


Kale Strauser made a two and Gothenburg led 28-15.


Easton Knispel for sure made a two-pointer and Ogallala trailed 30-17 with 5:41 to go in the second quarter.


Kale Strauser then scored again and Gothenburg led 34-17.


Gothenburg led 36-17 with 3:58 to go in the second quarter.


The Swedes led 38-17 with 2:04 to go in the first half.


Jacoby Bauer then launched and made a three and Ogallala trailed 38-20.


Callen Johnson scored three points in the second quarter in which he made a two-pointer and a free throw for the Swedes and Gothenburg led 41-20.


Dillon Floyd scored two in the second quarter for the Swedes and Gothenburg led at halftime 44-20 after two quarters.


Teague Butterfield made the only three-pointer for Gothenburg in the second quarter.


Butterfield scored five points in the second quarter and Kale Strauser scored 12 points in the second quarter and he and Butterfield combined for 17 of Gothenburg's 22 points in the second quarter.


Strauser made two free throws in the second quarter for Gothenburg.


Kale Dea made a two for Gothenburg to give the Swedes a 46-20 lead early in the third quarter.


Anthony Perrin then made a free throw for Ogallala.


Kale Strauser scored a two for Gothenburg to give the Swedes a 46-21 lead.


Anthony Perrin then scored two more and also made a free throw for the Indians to make it Ogallala 24, Gothenburg 48.


Burke Finke then made a two for Gothenburg and Jacoby Bauer made a three and Ogallala trailed 50-27.


Finke then hit a three for Gothenburg and Ty Patin made a two for Ogallala and Gothenburg led 53-29.


Kale Dea then made a two for the Swedes.


Jacoby Bauer then hit two straight threes and Ogallala trailed 55-35.


Teague Butterfield then made a two and Kale Strauser made a free throw and Gothenburg led 58-36.


Dillon Floyd then made a two to give Gothenburg a 25-point lead after three quarters and Ogallala trailed 60-35.


Teague Butterfield then made a two and immediately afterwards made a free throw to complete a three-point play for the Swedes.


Anthony Perrin then made a free throw to get Ogallala to 36 points.


Kale Strauser then made a two and Gothenburg led 65-36.


Easton Knispel then made a two for Ogallala.


Strauser then made a three and Ogallala trailed 68-38.


Callen Johnson I believe made a free throw for Gothenburg and the Swedes led 69-38.


Gunner Thompson then made a two and Gothenburg led 71-38 with 3:44 left in the fourth quarter at that point.


Thompson then scored again and the Swedes led 73-38.


Easton Knispel then made two free throws and Ogallala trailed 73-40 with 3:10 left to go in the fourth quarter.


Ty Patin then made a two for Ogallala with 2:25 left to go in the fourth quarter.


Easton Knispel then made a two and Ogallala got to 44 points.


Miles Christensen then made two two-pointers and Gothenburg got to 77 points and won by a final score of 77-44.


For Gothenburg, Teague Butterfield scored 15 points. He made four free throws and one three-pointer.


He scored 10 points in the first half.


Gunner Thompson scored 10 points. He made five two-pointers.


He scored six points in the first half.


Burke Finke scored nine points. He made one three-pointer.


He scored just four points in the first half.


Dillon Floyd scored eight points. He scored six points in the first half.


Miles Christensen scored six points.


Callen Johnson scored five points. He made three free throws.


Kale Dea scored four points.


For Ogallala, Easton Knispel scored 10 points. He made two free throws.


He scored four points in the first half.


Anthony Perrin scored seven points. He made three free throws.


He scored five points in the second half!


Ty Patin scored four points.


Zach Dietrich scored two points total which were all in the first quarter.


Tate Kirchner scored one point, a free throw, in the first quarter.


Gothenburg improved to 5-1 on the season at the High School Reserve level. The Swedes have won against Hastings, Broken Bow, Minden, North Platte St. Patrick's and now Ogallala.


Gothenburg's only loss came against Kearney.


Gothenburg travels to Elm Creek for a High School Reserve game on Monday, January 19th. They also have a game at Lexington on February 2nd.


Ogallala is 2-2 at home this season in High School Reserve games. The Indians have wins over Chase County and Perkins County and losses at home against Hershey and now Gothenburg.


The Indians lost at North Platte St. Patrick's 63-40 on Thursday, December 4th, 2025, in their only away game so far this season in High School Reserve games.


Ogallala is now 2-3 in Reserve games so far this season.


Ogallala hosts Sidney in their next High School Reserve basketball game on Monday, January 19th, 2026, in the Ogallala Auditorium.


In High School Junior Varsity and Varsity Boys' basketball, Gothenburg hosts Cozad on Thursday, January 15th, before traveling Chase County on Friday, January 16th.


The Swedes then host Broken Bow on Thursday, January 22nd, before traveling to Sidney on January 23rd.


The Ogallala High School Varsity and Junior Varsity Girls' and Boys' basketball teams host Sidney on Friday, January 16th.


Then, they travel to Valentine on Saturday, January 17th, and they also travel to Scottsbluff on Tuesday, January 20th.


The Ogallala High School Varsity and Junior Varsity Girls' and Boys' basketball teams then travel to Alliance on Friday, January 23rd.
