Ogallala Boys' defeat Olathe South in Gretna on January 3rd, 2026, and are still unbeaten in High School Varsity Basketball

The Ogallala Indians Boys' High School Varsity basketball team defeated the Olathe South Falcons from Olathe, Kansas, 83-41 on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026, at Gretna High School in Gretna, Nebraska!


Olathe South now has 2 wins 4 losses and 2 ties. Ogallala is now 8-0 in the regular season.


Sawyer Smith scored 21 points for Ogallala and has led Ogallala in scoring for the fourth game in a row! He made nine two-point baskets and three free throws.


Smith had 14 points and six two-pointers in the first half! He scored eight points alone in the second quarter.


Jacob Corrales scored 12 points for Olathe South. He made four three-pointers and scored all 12 points in the first half!


Corrales scored nine points in the second quarter alone!


Olathe South played Ogallala tough in the first minute of the game.


Then Sawyer Smith got a right-handed layup for Ogallala while Anthony Harris got a left handed layup for the Falcons with 6:17 to go in the first quarter.


Edan Cain then swished a three right down the middle!


Rylan Gilmore then hit a three from the right side and Ogallala led 8-2 with 5:15 to go in the first quarter!


The Indians scored eight more and led 16-2 with 2:56 in the first quarter.


Sawyer Smith made a two from the right side and Tanner DeCastro made a two from the right side to get Ogallala to 12 points!


Tanner DeCastro then made a two from the right side and Edan Cain made two free throws with 2:56 left in the opening quarter to get the Indians to 16 points.


Olathe South scored six of the next eight points and trailed 18-8 after the first quarter.


Jacob Corrales made a three from the left side for the Falcons with 2:43 left in the first quarter to get Olathe South to five points total!


Sawyer Smith then knocked in two free throws with 32.9 seconds left in the quarter.


Jaxon Chai then made a three from the right side with 5.2 seconds left in the first quarter.


Sawyer Smith then came pretty close to making a three within relatively close distance to the three-point line and that was the end of the first quarter.


Smith then made two baskets from the right side, with the second one taking more of an adventure around the rim before falling in the hoop!


The Falcons trailed 22-8 with 6:43 to go in quarter number two.


Jacob Corrales then drilled a three from downtown!


Sawyer Smith then did a spin-and-score play on the left side!


The Falcons trailed 26-11 with 4:49 to go in the second quarter after a two-pointer layup on the left side that took time to drop in from Ogallala's Edan Cain.


Rylan Gilmore then made two two-pointers for Ogallala. One was a layup off the glass on the right side and the other was the longest two-pointer possible from the left corner as Rylan appeared to have his right foot on the three-point line.


Ogallala then led 33 to 11 with 2:55 left to go in the first half after a straightaway three from Ogallala's Tanner DeCastro.


Jacob Corrales then made another three for the Falcons from the left side with 2:31 to go in the second quarter!


Olathe South trailed 35 to 14 with 1:07 seconds left in the second quarter after a long two (from about the free throw line) on the right side from Sawyer Smith!


Corrales then hit another three from the left side with 35 seconds to go until halftime!


Rylan Gilmore then made a two-point layup on the left side for Ogallala right before the buzzer sounded to end the first half and Ogallala led 37 to 17!


After two missed free throws from Olathe South's Anthony Harris, Tanner DeCastro made a dunk with 7:17 left to go in the third quarter!


Anthony Harris then redeemed himself with a layup right in front of the basket and then Ogallala's Lincoln Gillen made a three to give Ogallala a 42-19 lead in the third quarter!


Rylan Gilmore then made a right handed layup and a free throw and Ogallala led 45-19 with 6:15 left to go in the third quarter.


Anthony Harris then made another layup on the right side for Olathe South.


Sawyer Smith got an easy two-pointer and then Lincoln Gillen made two right-handed layups and Ogallala led 51 to 21 with 4:47 to go in the third quarter.


Reece Johnson got a long two and Nate Robben then made a layup for Olathe South.


The Indians then led 54-25 with 3:40 to go in the third quarter after a Lincoln Gillen three for Ogallala.


Tanner DeCastro then made an alley-oop dunk from Edan Cain for the Indians and Ogallala led 56-25 with 3:17 to go in the third quarter.


Kemper Johnson threw the ball up on the right side as if going in for a layup and it appeared Tanner DeCastro maybe committed goaltending but the officials said that Lincoln Gillen simply committed a foul for Ogallala.


Kemper Johnson then made the first of two free throws to get Olathe South to 26 points.


Sawyer Smith then made a layup on the left side with the right hand for Ogallala.


Nate Robben scored a two and Olathe had 28 points at that point.


#3 then scored a two for Olathe South on a rebound after a missed three-pointer.


Ogallala then got a three from Lincoln Gillen in the left corner and Olathe South trailed 61-30 with 39.1 seconds to go!


Edan Cain then made a three on the right side near the end of the third quarter and Ogallala led 64-30 after three quarters.


Lincoln Gillen then made a right-handed layup with under seven minutes to go to give Ogallala a 66-30 lead!


#25 then hit a three from the left side at the top of the key for Olathe South with 6:38 left in the fourth!


Sawyer Smith made a free throw for the Indians and then Terence Belcher made a right handed layup to get Olathe South to 35 points!


Anthony Harris then made a shot off the glass for the Falcons on the right side while Tanner DeCastro tried to dunk it but tipped it off the glass and the basketball went in!


Then DeCastro made a free throw and the Falcons then trailed 70-37 with 4:37 to go in the fourth quarter.


DeCastro made a two from the left side and Gillen made a two from the right side.


Sawyer Smith then made a two from the right side to give Ogallala a 76 to 37 lead with 3:49 to go!


Rhys Gilmore then made a shot on a floater pinball shot in the paint for Ogallala.


#3 then made a shot on the left side for the Falcons with 2:20 to go!


Zach Musgrove then hit a three on the right side about a foot behind the three point line near the top of the key to make it 81 to 39 in favor of Ogallala with 2:10 to go!


Cy Lowery then made a dunk on the left side to make it 83-39.


Nate Robben made a basket on the right side with both hands right near the basket for the Falcons to make it 83-41 with 29.9 seconds left in the fourth quarter and that was the final score as Ogallala won by 42 points.


For Olathe South, Anthony Harris scored eight points by making four two-point baskets.


Nate Robben scored six points by making three two-pointers.


#3 scored four points for Olathe South. He made two two-pointers.


Jaxon Chai and #25 for Olathe South each made a three-pointer.


Terence Belcher and Reece Johnson each scored two points.


Kemper Johnson made a free throw and totaled one point.


For Ogallala, Lincoln Gillen scored 17 points. He made three three-pointers in the third quarter.


Tanner DeCastro scored 16 points. He made a three-pointer and a free throw.


Rylan Gilmore scored 12 points. He made one three-pointer and one free throw!


Edan Cain scored 10 points. He made two threes and two free throws.


Zach Musgrove totaled three points from a three-point make!


Rhys Gilmore scored two points.


Cy Lowery also scored two points on a dunk!


Olathe South lost against Mill Valley on Tuesday, January 6th, 2026, 69-51.


The Falcons host Shawnee Mission East on Tuesday, January 13th.


Olathe South then travels to Olathe North on Friday, January 16th.


Ogallala hosted Bridgeport on Tuesday, January 6th, 2026.


The Indians play at Cozad on Friday, January 9th.


Ogallala then hosts Sidney on Friday, January 16th and travel to Valentine on Saturday, January 17th.
