Ogallala Boys' now 16-0, beats Chase County in High School Varsity Basketball on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026

The Ogallala Indians High School Boys' Varsity basketball team defeated the Chase County Longhorns 90-48 at the Chase County High School Gymnasium in Imperial, Nebraska, on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026.


This game was originally supposed to be played on the second Saturday of December 2025, but extremely icy road conditions resulted in the game being postponed.


Sawyer Smith scored 28 points for Ogallala. He made one three-pointer and three free throws.


Smith has scored 10 or more points in eight of nine games in the actual year of 2026. He also scored exactly 28 points for the second straight game.


Zak Anderson scored 24 points for Chase County. He made four three-pointers and four free throws!


To start the game, Tanner DeCastro made a three-pointer for Ogallala.


Then, Noah Rau scored a two-pointer for Chase County.


Edan Cain then hit a three for Ogallala and the Indians led 6-2.


Zak Anderson then made a three for the Longhorns.


Tanner DeCastro then made a two for Ogallala and the Indians led 8-5.


DeCastro then made a dunk for Ogallala!


James Bomba then made a two-pointer and Chase County trailed 10-7.


Edan Cain then hit another three for Ogallala.


Zak Anderson then made a two for Chase County and Ogallala led 13-9.


Lincoln Gillen then hit a three for Ogallala.


Zak Anderson then hit another three and Chase County trailed 16-12.


Gillen then hit another three for Ogallala.


Tanner DeCastro and Sawyer Smith then both made a two-pointer for Ogallala.


Sawyer Smith then made a free throw to complete the three-point play and Ogallala led 24-12.


Rylan Gilmore then made a two for Ogallala and the Indians led after one quarter 26-12.


To start the second quarter, Rylan Gilmore and Sawyer Smith each had two-point makes and Ogallala led 30-12.


Lukas Fries then made back-to-back two-pointers for Chase County.


Tanner DeCastro then made only the first of two free throws for Ogallala while Sawyer Smith made a two for the Indians and Ogallala led 33-16.


DeCastro then made another two-pointer for the Indians and Ogallala led 35-16 with 4:33 left in the second quarter.


Zak Anderson then made back-to-back free throws for Chase County and the Longhorns trailed 35-18.


Sawyer Smith then made only the second of two free throws for Ogallala.


Then Smith scored back-to-back two-pointers and Ogallala led 40-18.


Rhys Gilmore then made a two-point basket for the Indians and Ogallala led 42-18 with 2:57 left in the second quarter.


Zak Anderson then made a two for the Longhorns and Chase County trailed after two quarters at halftime 42-20.


For Ogallala, Tanner DeCastro and Sawyer Smith both scored 12 points in the first half. Lincoln Gillen and Edan Cain each scored six points in the first half.


For Chase County, Zak Anderson scored nine points in the first half while James Bomba scored five points in the first half.


To start the third quarter, Sawyer Smith made a two for Ogallala.


Then, Tanner DeCastro made two free throws and Ogallala led 46-20.


James Bomba then made a three for Chase County.


Noah Rau then completed a three-point play by making a two-pointer and then immediately afterward made a free throw and Chase County trailed Ogallala 46-26.


Tanner DeCastro then scored two points for Ogallala while Zak Anderson made a two for Chase County and Ogallala led 48-28 with 2:31 left in the third quarter.


Sawyer Smith then scored a two for Ogallala while Lukas Fries made a two for Chase County.


Edan Cain then made a three for the Indians while Zak Anderson made a three for the Longhorns and Chase County trailed by 20, 53-33.


Sawyer Smith then hit a three, and then he completed a three-point play because of a two-point make and then a free throw make and Ogallala led 59-33.


Tanner DeCastro then completed a three-point play and Chase County trailed 62-33.


James Bomba then made a two for Chase County.


Sawyer Smith then made back-to-back two-pointers and Ogallala led after three quarters 66-35.


Tanner DeCastro then missed back-to-back free throws, but made up for it by making a two-pointer.


Aaron Cervantes for Chase County made a two-pointer while Rylan Gilmore made a two-pointer for Ogallala and the Indians led 70-37.


Lincoln Gillen then made a three for the Indians while Zak Anderson made a three for the Longhorns.


Gillen then made another three for Ogallala while Anderson made two straight free throws for Chase County.


Lukas Fries then made a three for Chase County and the Longhorns trailed 76-45.


Rylan Gilmore then scored two points for Ogallala and Zak Anderson added two points for Chase County.


Edan Cain then hit a three and Sawyer Smith made a two and Ogallala led 83-47.


After a couple of missed free throws by Ogallala's Rhys Gilmore, Blake Robb made back-to-back free throws for the Indians.


Anthony Perrin then made a two-pointer for Ogallala and the Indians led 87-47.


Lleyton McDaniel then only made the first of two free throws for Chase County.


Anthony Perrin then hit a three and Ogallala won the game by a final score of 90-48.


For Ogallala, Tanner DeCastro scored 21 points. He made one three-pointer and four free throws.


DeCastro has been in the double-digits in scoring for every game in the actual year of 2026 and he scored 20 or more points for the first time in three games.


Edan Cain and Lincoln Gillen each scored 12 points from four three-point baskets!


Cain has scored double-digit points in four of the last five games.


Gillen has scored double-digit points in four of the last eight Varsity games and as a result of that, he has scored double-digit points in every two games every single time within the last eight games.


Rylan Gilmore scored eight points. He made four two-pointers.


Before Tuesday's game, Rylan scored 10 or more points in four straight games.


Anthony Perrin scored five points. He made one three-pointer.


Rhys Gilmore scored two-points on a two-pointer.


Blake Robb scored two points on two free throw makes.


For Chase County, Lukas Fries scored nine points. He made one three-pointer.


James Bomba scored seven points. He made one three-pointer.


Noah Rau total five points. He made one free throw.


Aaron Cervantes scored two points on a two-pointer.


Lleyton McDaniel scored one point on a free throw make.


For the next week or so, Ogallala will travel to McCook on Friday, February 6th, for Boys' High School Junior Varsity and Varsity basketball.


Then, Broken Bow will pay a visit to Ogallala on Saturday, February 7th, and Holdrege will come to Ogallala on Friday, February 13th.


On February 14th, Ogallala will play against Ashland-Greenwood at a neutral location.


For Chase County, they will be at North Platte St. Patrick's for Boys' High School Junior Varsity and Varsity basketball on Friday, February 6th.


Then, they will host the Gering Bulldogs on Saturday, February 7th.


The Longhorns will then host Hitchcock County on Tuesday, February 10th, and they will also host Maywood/Hayes Center on Friday, February 13th.


As of Thursday, February 5th, 2026, at 5:08 p.m. Mountain Time, the Ogallala Indians (16-0) are ranked first in Class C1 according to nsaahome.org with 48.4375 wild card points.


Ashland-Greenwood (18-0) is also undefeated and is currently in second place in Class C1 with 47.6111 wild card points.


Chase County (8-11) is currently ranked 33rd in Class C1 according to nsaahome.org with 40.5789 wild card points.
