The Ogallala Indians High School Boys' Varsity basketball team defeated the Allliance Bulldogs 83-65 on Friday night, January 24th, 2025, at the Steve Morgan Court in the Prairie View Gymnasium in Ogallala, Nebraska.

It is the second most points Ogallala has scored this season and it also is the second-most points allowed Ogallala gave up this season.

For Alliance, 65 points is tied for the fourth-most points they've scored this season and also it was the most points by far they have scored in a loss this season!

Seth Meyring scored 20 points for Alliance while Ogallala's Sawyer Smith scored what likely was a season-high of 37!

Meyring made six free throws and two threes. Smith made six free throws and just one three!

The Alliance fans were not very pleased with Smith's one three-pointer as it looked like Smith pushed off about as much as you can get away with before stepping back and firing the shot from just a little left of center.

Alliance's Espen Lanik scored 15 points. He made four threes and one free throw.

Trevor Zurn scored 12 and made three three-pointers and one free throw.

Lexton Salcido made two threes and totaled six points while Payton Boyer and Jadon Guerra each scored four points.

Boyer made two free throws while Guerra made two two-pointers.

Creighton Fritzler made a three-point shot.

For Ogallala, Lincoln Gillen scored 14 points and made one three and three free throws.

Cy Lowery scored 11 points, made three free throws and made two dunks!

Edan Cain made two threes and two two-point baskets.

Tanner DeCastro scored eight points while Jacob Fanning scored four points and all of their scoring was from the two-point variety.

DeCastro almost had one dunk in the game, but that shot attempt still went in on that dunk-looking attempt.

Ogallala led 27-17 in the first half and maybe by that score after the first quarter (I can't remember for sure).

Alliance trailed Ogallala at halftime 42-25.

The Indians led 61 to 39 after three quarters.

Alliance probably scored their most points in the fourth quarter and lost 83 to 65.

I personally think the final score should have been 84 to 66.

Ogallala's Cy Lowery committed one goaltend against Oqallala. I still don't know right now which basketball player got credit for Alliance because of the goaltend.

Alliance is now 10-5 on the season while Ogallala is now 15-0.

Alliance is now ranked 16th in Class B on Sunday, January 26th, 2025, according to the nsaahome.org website, while Ogallala is now ranked first in Class in C-1 according to the Nebraska School Activities Association (the same resource/publication/outlet as Alliance's) on Sunday, January 26th, 2025.

Alliance's next known opponent after conference tournament play at this moment is Scottsbluff on February 7th.

That is a home game for Alliance against Scottsbluff and then Alliance will play at McCook on February 8th.

Ogallala hosts Broken Bow on Tuesday, January 28th, for the first round of Southwest Conference.

Ogallala is the #1 seed while Broken Bow is the #8 seed.

The winner of that game plays the winner of McCook or Gothenburg.

Gothenburg is the #5 seed while McCook is the #4 seed.

After conference tournament play, Ogallala's next game is on February 7th vs. McCook. They will then play at Broken Bow on Saturday, February 8th.

Ogallala lost the Junior Varsity Boys' game 56 to 34 to Alliance on Friday afternoon.

Alliance's Creighton Fritzler scored 20 points and Jadon Guerra scored 13 points.

Fritzler made three free throws and a three-pointer. Guerra made a free throw.

Ogallala's Jacob Fanning scored 10 points. including two made free throws.
