The McCook Bison defeated the Ogallala Indians 42-0 in Boys' High School Varsity football on Friday night, October 10th, 2025, at the Ogallala High School football field in Ogallala, Nebraska.

It was another tough loss for the Ogallala Indians as they didn't score for the second straight week at all and they had to put up with the running clock again in the second half (because they were trailing by at least 34 points or more) for at least the second time this season.

The one real highlight for Ogallala is that Rhys Gilmore got an interception and returned it from the goal line to the Ogallala 32 with 8:41 in the third quarter when the score was McCook 21 and Ogallala 0.

Tristan Campbell led the way for McCook with three touchdowns, including two rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown.

Ty Junker also had a receiving touchdown, Trey Tiller had a pick six touchdown and Spencer Snyder scored a touchdown.

McCook's starting quarterback Trenton Raile was 6 for 9 in the first half with a touchdown pass and 6 for 10 if you include a spike to stop the clock for 106 yards passing.

In the second half, Raile was 5 for 5 for 71 yards, a touchdown pass, and one interception.

Overall, Raile was 11 for 16 for 177 yards and one interception and 11 for 17 if you include the spike near the end of the 2nd quarter.

Jackson Hartwell made all six extra points after touchdowns on Friday night with Ty Junker being the holder.

Ogallala's quarterback Edan Cain was 6 for 9 for 39 yards in the first half with zero interceptions.

In the entire game, Cain was 7 for 13 throwing the football for 44 yards. He threw three interceptions on three straight possessions in the second half.

Ogallala at least for the second straight game only got the football into their opponent's territory on just one possession on Friday night on their second offensive possession when they were already trailing 7-0 in the first quarter.

Ogallala went three-and-out six times out of eleven possessions.

After the opening kickoff to start the game, Ogallala got the football and committed a five-yard false start penalty before the game's first play from scrimmage. Ogallala had three unsuccessful plays, including an incompletion to Rhys Gilmore and was forced to punt.

McCook got the football back and they were forced to punt. Ogallala's Amaythian Clark touched the football when he was trying to pick it up and McCook recovered and had the ball at the Ogallala 11-yard line.

Two plays later at least (it might have been three plays later), Tristan Campbell scored on a run to the middle and left for a six-yard touchdown.

McCook 7, Ogallala 0.

With 6:25 left in the first quarter, Ogallala then had Edan Cain run for three yards to the Ogallala 36.

On third down, Sawyer Smith caught an eight yard pass to make it fourth-and-two and then he caught another pass to put the football at the Ogallala 47.

After an Ogallala timeout, Cain then got sacked back to the Ogallala 41 and then threw a 20-yard completion to Sawyer Smith and a six-yard completion to Tai Le to put the ball on the McCook 33 yard line.

Kolby Nowak then ran for two yards and then zero yards setting up a fourth and two.

After another Ogallala timeout, Sawyer Smith then ran left and was stopped about four inches short of the first down at the McCook 29.

McCook's Lee Davidson then ran for five yards to the McCook 34 and that ended quarter number one.

McCook 7, Ogallala 0.

Two plays later, McCook got a completion for 12 yards to the McCook 47 and then two plays later McCook got another completion to Miles Pollmann for 44 yards on the left side to the Ogallala 4.

Tristan Campbell then ran forward and right from four yards out for a touchdown and McCook led Ogallala 14-0.

Ogallala then got the football with 9:10 left in the second quarter.

Ogallala then had a run to the right by Edan Cain on third down for seven yards and it was fourth and 3.

Ogallala was forced to punt.

McCook started at their own 25 with 8 minutes exactly left in the 2nd quarter and Ogallala then had their most positive possession on defense of the game as McCook committed an illegal block in the back penalty on 1st down to put them back at their own 15.

McCook then threw a backward pass and that is by rule a fumble and Tristan Campbell corralled it and recovered it at the McCook 5 yard line.

Campbell then ran left and right for 10 on 2nd down and then an incompletion on third down forced a punt.

With 5:28 left in the 2nd quarter, Ogallala had the ball on their own 40. On first down, Amaythian Clark ran for two yards, and then Amaythian Clark caught a ball for no gain on second down at the Ogallala 42.

Cain then got sacked again for a loss of 15 and Ogallala was forced to punt.

McCook got the football back with 2:57 left in the 2nd quarter at their own 44 yard-line.

McCook then had to punt after a 15-yard penalty on third down which I guess happened after the play resulting in the penalty not having to be declined to replay 3rd down.

With 2:02 left in the quarter, Ogallala had the ball at their own 43.

Ogallala had two negative plays, after which McCook called timeout after both plays.

Cain then threw an incompletion intended for Sawyer Smith, of which Ogallala was called for offensive pass interference, although it didn't appear to me that Smith committed the penalty.

McCook got the football with 1:32 left in the 2nd on the McCook 43 and put together a drive which culminated in a 29-yard touchdown pass from Trenton Raile on the right side near the pylon, just a few yards from the end zone, to Tristan Campbell, his third score of the game!

On the drive, Campbell caught a thirteen yard pass to put the football at the Ogallala 44. Then Raile threw completions for six to somebody on McCook and two to Miles Pollmann.

After an incompletion and a timeout by McCook with 44.6 seconds left in the quarter, Campbell ran left for six yards to the Ogallala 29.

Then Tristan Campbell caught the touchdown pass of which Ogallala's defense didn't seem they were very near Campbell.

Touchdown!

After the extra point, McCook 21, Ogallala 0.

Ogallala then got the ball at their own 34 and intentionally kneeled it down with 16.7 seconds left in the quarter for a four-yard loss by Edan Cain at the Ogallala 30 yard-line and that was the end of the first half!

After the kickoff, Ogallala got the football on their own 39 with 3:45 left in the third.

On first down, Edan Cain threw to his right and Trey Tiller jumped up a little bit into the air and intercepted the pass probably at about the 33-yard line and took it to the end zone for a touchdown!

Tiller was very pumped up after scoring his first career touchdown at any level of football.

After the extra point, McCook led 35 to 0.

Ogallala had the football at their own 36 with 3:20 left in the third, and after two negative plays, Cain threw an interception to McCook's Ty Junker at the McCook 43 and Sawyer Smith wrestled him down at the McCook 39.

Ogallala fell to 1-6 on the season while McCook improved to 6-1.

McCook is now ranked 7th in Class B with 42.0000 wild card points, while Ogallala is ranked 25th currently on Saturday morning at 11:13 a.m. Mountain Time in Class C1 with 36.4286 wild card points.

For district play, McCook is technically in first place in Class B District 5 as Scottsbluff is also 6-1 overall, but they are better than McCook as they are 3-0 in district play while McCook is still 2-0 in district play because McCook hasn't played as many district games yet against district opponents.

Scottsbluff has 40.7143 wild card points which puts McCook in first place because they have more wild card points than Scottsbluff.

McCook appears they will qualify for the playoffs (and win their district) with a win next Friday vs. Scottsbluff in district play.

McCook closes out their regular season at Lexington on Friday, October 24th.

It appears McCook will finish no lower than third.

On the other hand, Ogallala is in fourth out of five teams right now in Class C1 District 7 as they are 0-2 in district play.

A win at 5th place in Class C1-7 Chase County (34.5714 wild card points) next Friday night would probably put Ogallala no lower than fourth place in the district for the entire regular season and Ogallala could maybe finish as high as third if they also win on October 24th against Alliance (36.5714 wild card points).

Chase County is 1-6 this season and 0-3 in district play. Alliance is 3-4 and 1-1 in district play.
