Ogallala defeats Gothenburg in Subdistrict Volleyball Title Game; Ogallala to host Battle Creek on Saturday, November 1st, 2025

The Ogallala Lady Indians Girls' High School Varsity volleyball team defeated the Gothenburg Swedes three sets to zero on Tuesday, October 28th, 2025, on the Steve Morgan Court in the Prairie View Gymnasium in Ogallala, Nebraska.
Ogallala won set one 25-13, set two 25-23 and set three 25-18.
For Gothenburg, Grace Evert led the Swedes with nine kills and also had one block.
Lindly Anderson had six kills and two blocks.
Halsey Thomalla had four kills and three blocks.
For Ogallala, Alex Ervin had five aces and recorded 11 kills.
Laney Caskey had one ace serve and 12 kills.
Shaydyn Rasby had nine kills and one block.
Gothenburg led 4-2 and 4-3 early on in the first set.
Paige Armijo for Ogallala then had three straight serves, Ogallala won Armijo's first two serves and took a 5-4 lead before Gothenburg tied it up at five.
Gothenburg then again tied it up at six apiece.
Ogallala took a 7-6 lead, and then Alex Ervin had four straight serves and Ogallala led 10-7 at that point.
Gothenburg then trailed 13-10, but Ogallala also led 15-11.
Gothenburg trailed 16-12 and then Sadie Flansburg had seven straight serves for Ogallala and Gothenburg still trailed 23-12.
Ogallala then lost the next point and still led 23-13 and then the Indians won the first set 25-13.
Gothenburg's top servers in the first set were Zoe Beveridge (four serves) and Peyton Hilbers (three serves).
Ogallala's top servers in the first set were Sadie Flansburg (eight serves), while Alex Ervin and Paige Armijo each had five serves apiece.
In set number two, Ogallala led 3-0 and 3-1 early because of Ogallala's serving by Hayden Shaw and then Gothenburg took a 4-3 lead because of the serving of Gothenburg's Peyton Hilbers before a point by Ogallala's Laney Caskey to tie up the score at four.
Gothenburg led 5-4, 8-6 and 8-7 and then Ogallala led 11-8 and 11-9 because of five straight serves by Ogallala's Sadie Flansburg.
Ogallala led 15-11 and 16-13 before the Swedes cut the deficit in which they trailed by one to 16-15 and 17-15 because of the serving of Gothenburg's Peyton Hilbers.
The Indians tacked on two more points to take a 18-15 lead before the Swedes came back to tie at 18.
Gothenburg then led 22-21 (if I am not mistaken), and then Ogallala took a 23-22 lead before the Swedes came back to tie at 23 before Ogallala won the next two points and won set two 25-23.
Gothenburg's top servers in the second set were Peyton Hilbers (seven serves) and Zoe Beveridge (five serves, if I am not mistaken).
Ogallala's top servers in the second set were Hayden Shaw and Sadie Flansburg (six serves each).
In set number three, Ogallala won the first point, the Swedes tied it at one and then Gothenburg took a 6-1 lead and led 6-2 for six straight serves from Gothenburg's Zoe Beveridge!
Ogallala trailed 6-4, and 8-5 before Gothenburg also led 10-6.
Ogallala then won the next four points and tied up the score at ten.
Ogallala then led 12-11 because of six straight serves from Ogallala's Alex Ervin and Ogallala then led 16-12.
The Swedes trailed 17-13, 18-15 and 19-16.
Sadie Flansburg then had four straight serves for Ogallala and the Indians then took a 22 to 17 lead.
Gothenburg then cut the deficit to 23-18, but could get no closer as Ogallala won set three 25-18!
Gothenburg's top servers in the third set was Zoe Beveridge (seven serves).
Ogallala's top servers in the third set were Alex Ervin (seven serves) and Sadie Flansburg (five serves).
For Gothenburg, McKena Gilligan had five kills and one block.
Zoe Beveridge had five kills.
Ruby Bell had one kill and one block.
Peyton Hilbers had one ace serve.
For Ogallala, Addison Powell had three kills.
Sadie Flansburg had two ace serves.
Hayden Shaw and Kooper Knispel had two kills.
Paige Armijo had one ace serve.
Gothenburg ends their season at 18-12.
The Ogallala Indians (30-3, 4-0 in District Play) host the Battle Creek Bravettes (20-12, 1-2 C1-7) on Saturday, November 1st, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. Mountain Time on the Steve Morgan Court in the Prairie View Gymnasium in Ogallala, Nebraska.
Battle Creek is the #16 overall seed while Ogallala is the #1 overall seed in the Class C1 District Final match.
Battle Creek has won 55 sets and lost 39 sets so far this season.
Ogallala has won 75 sets this season and lost just 13 sets in 88 sets played so far this season.
Battle Creek is 8-6 in best-of-five sets matches so far this season.
The Bravettes have won 30 sets in best-of-five set matches and have lost 27 sets.
Ogallala hasn't lost a single best-of-five set match all season long and has won 14 matches as a result of that!
Ogallala has only lost three sets all season long in their matches that are slated to be best-of-five!
The winner goes to the State Tournament in Lincoln next week in which the first two rounds (before the championship game round) will be played at the Pinnacle Bank Arena.
For Class C1, the first two rounds of the State Tournament will be played at the North and South courts at the Pinnacle Bank Arena at 1 and 3 p.m. Central Time on Wednesday, November 5th and Friday, November 7th.
The State Championship Game for Class C1 is on Saturday, November 8th, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. Central Time at the Bob Devaney Sports Center, while the third place game will take place earlier that day at 9 a.m. Central Time at Lincoln East High School.
If Battle Creek defeats Ogallala on Saturday, they most likely will be playing Lincoln Lutheran in the first round of the State Tournament.
If Ogallala defeats Battle Creek, they could be facing Minden in the first round of the State Tournament, assuming all of the top seeds in every District Final matchup on Saturday wins.
Ogallala has scored 2,158 points so far this season and have given up 1,640 points so far this season for a grand total of 3,798 points played.
That means Ogallala has scored an average of 65.39 points per match and given up an average of 49.70 points per match for a point differential of +15.69.
Ogallala has scored an average of 24.52 points per set and given up an average of 18.64 points per set this season for a point differential of +5.88 points per set.
