Varsity VB: Ogallala defeats Chase County 3-1 in Girls' Varsity Volleyball. Ogallala also won the Junior Varsity and Reserve matches

The Ogallala Indians High School Girls' Varsity Volleyball team defeated the Chase County Longhorns three sets to one on Thursday, August 28th, 2025, at the Steve Morgan Court at the Prairie View Gymnasium in Ogallala, Nebraska.
Chase County won the first set 25-22. Ogallala then won the next three sets 25-12, 25-21 and 26-24 to win the match!
For Chase County, Hayley Rusher finished with at least six kills and five blocks.
Riley Rusher had seven kills and three blocks.
For Ogallala, Alex Ervin finished with 20 kills, two blocks and an ace serve.
Laney Caskey finished with 15 kills, 1 block and one ace serve.
In the first set Ogallala trailed 4-6, 5-8 and 8-10. The Indians still trailed when it was 11-12, 11-14, 12-16 and 13-18.
Ogallala then got it closer at 16-19 and 17-20. Ogallala trailed 19-20 but could get no closer as Chase County led 23-20 and 24-22.
A serve into the net by Ogallala's Paige Armijo allowed Chase County to win the first set 25-22.
Ogallala then jumped out of the gate in set number two and led 5-2, 8-4, 11-6 and 14-8.
The Longhorns then gave up seven more points and Ogallala led 21-8. Chase County cut the lead by Ogallala to 22-11 but could get no closer as Ogallala won set two 25-12.
In set three, Chase County trailed 2-3 and was also tied with Ogallala at 4. Ogallala then went on a run and led 9-6, but Chase County cut the deficit to 8-10.
Ogallala led 14-10 and 16-12 and 17-14. Ogallala continued to lead 19-16 and 20-18.
Ogallala led 24-20 and won the third set by a much tighter margin than the second set, 25-21.
Chase County took charge in the fourth set leading 2-0, 4-1, 6-2 and 8-4. The Longhorns kept putting the pressure on and led 10-4, 12-6, and 15-9 before Ogallala took a second timeout of the set.
Ogallala cut the deficit to 11-16 and then locked down the defense to make the score 14-17 and eventually a tie at 17.
The teams mostly traded points until Ogallala led 22-20. Chase County actually led again 20-18 at one point. After the score was tied at 22, Ogallala took the lead at 23 and Chase County kept tying it until it got to 24 all.
Ogallala then won the next point to have another match point opportunity at 25-24 and Chase County hit the ball long to give Ogallala the win 26-24!
For the Chase County Lady Longhorns, Miranda Spady also did well with six kills.
Karlie Anderson had two kills, one black and three ace serves.
Jordyn Stafford recorded two kills, one block and one ace serve.
Avery Beemer had four kills and one block.
Alexandria Reeves had one kill and one ace serve.
For the Ogallala Lady Indians, Addison Powell had six kills and two blocks.
Shaydyn Rasby had five kills.
Hayden Shaw had four kills.
Paige Armijo had three ace serves.
Addison Slama had one ace serve and Kooper Knispel had one kill.
Chase County will play against the McCook Bison and Minden Whippets on Tuesday, September 2nd, which appears to be away matches at the moment. They will then host the Yuma Outlaws on Tuesday, September 9th.
Ogallala is scheduled to play at the Hershey Panthers on Tuesday, September 2nd. They will also travel to the Sidney Red Raiders on September 4th and their next home game will be on Tuesday, September 9th against the McCook Bison.
In the Junior Varsity Girls' High School volleyball game, the Ogallala Indians won two sets to zero against the Chase County Longhorns.
Ogallala won 25-18 and 25-15.
For Chase County, Paige Owens had two kills and two blocks. DeLanie Vogt had three kills.
For Ogallala, Sam Bell had three aces served, one block and two kills.
Charlie Caskey and Tenlie Flansburg each had four kills apiece. Brooklyn Robb had two aces served and two kills.
In the first set the score was tied at two. Then, Ogallala led 6-3, 8-4 and 11-4. The Indians then jumped out to a 14-6 advantage.
Chase County then cut the deficit to 12-17. Ogallala then led 19-12, 19-14 and 20-15. Ogallala led 23-17 and won 25-18.
In set two, Ogallala led 6-4 and 12-8, and 20-10.
Chase County got within 9 at 21-12 but didn't really get any closer at Ogallala won 25-15.
For Chase County, Tilly Foote had two kills and one block.
Amelia Fries had one block and two kills.
Gabriella "Gigi" Schaufenbuel had two kills.
Taya Stromberger had one block.
For Ogallala, Inga Burton had three kills.
Marly Eastman had a block and a kill.
Harper Smith and Haidyn Rapp each had an ace serve while Kooper Knispel had a kill.
In the High School Reserve Girls' volleyball match, Chase County won the first set 18-25. Ogallala won the next two sets 25-16 and 15-10.
For Chase County, Emily Randall had two blocks and three kills.
For Ogallala, Rose Davis had five kills. Haidyn Rapp had five aces.
Sara Stevens had three aces and four kills.
In set one, Chase County led 3-1 and then the score was tied at six. Chase County then led 9-6, 12-10, 14-10 and 16-11.
Chase County still led 21-16 and 23-17 before ultimately winning the first set 25-18.
In set two, the score was tied at five. Chase County then trailed 6-8.
The score was tied at 10 and then Ogallala took a 13-10 lead before a Chase County timeout.
Ogallala led 17-12 before Chase County narrowed the gap to 18-15. Ogallala then led 23-15 and ultimately won set two 25-16.
In the third set, Chase County got out to a 5 to 1 lead! The score was tied at six and then Ogallala led 8-6 before it was tied at eight and also at ten!
Ogallala then won 15-10!
For Chase County, Norah Weiss had two blocks and one kill!
Avery Jantz and Avery Cyboron had two kills each!
Tesslyn Pankonin had two aces served!
Chantel Vlasin, Jade Cook and Danna Valdez-Chavira had one ace serve each!
Edisyn Teply had a kill.
For Ogallala, Charlie Caskey had three kills and one ace serve!
Mary Finken had three kills.
Marly Eastman had two kills and one ace serve!
Sam Bell and Molly Armijo had two kills each.
Camber Lippert had one ace serve!
So Ogallala won all three volleyball matches on Thursday, August 28th, 2025!
